I am a anime fan, but maybe you should stop watching hentai and cartoon networt as those are the worst examples of Japanese animation. The only good thing mainstream TV-wise is Cowboy Bebop and Dragonball(not-Z or even worse GT *shudder*).

There's a all heap of Japanese animation that doesn't feature tentacles and little girls with giant robots. Allot is pure shit but and some is the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen. Anime in Japan is as big as say Hollywood movies in America so it's very stupid to generalise it all when you've got anime covering soap opera's, teen angst, porn, kid's shows, action, comedy, romance and all the other shit. It's like saying "all music is shit" when you've only heard Sk8r Boi.

Here is some genuinely good anime which you should all see before you can truthfully say all anime is shit;
Patlabor- Philosophical giant robot police type stuff.
Akira- biker gangs and psychic children. The Daddy.
Spriggan- pure action about a special forces guy who goes to Turkey to fight a big conspiracy about Noahs Ark! Brilliant.
Ghost in the Shell- It's what the matrix is loosely based on, maybe a bit too philosophical for it's own good, very Bladerunner-esque.
Cowboy Bebop- 20-something part TV show set in the future about bounty hunters. Very good with some very diverse episodes, comedy and action.
Cyber City- 3 part sci-fi shenanigans. Another bladerunner-esque anime*shock*, but still good.
Spirited Away- I've not seen it yet but it's meant to be fatastic.

its ok ma_cherie, i find out that their are lot of assholes in CSN. (the whole Snake fiasco..) I think moving alot being immersed in few cultures from early childhood is a definite plus. First you get the language bonus which will help you out a lot when your an adult. (make sure to practice your japanese by watching subtitled anime, its a good excuse) Also you have a broader understanding on todays global community. I think it would be sad to live your whole life thinking there is only one voice, i know its a breeding ground for ignorant people. Think of all the contempory writers that lived in multiple cultures, Hammingway, Kundera, Vonnegut, Tan, the list goes on and on. Good shit y'all.
