IGN found out a few additional details (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/102/1029350p1.html) on the PlayStation 3 "update" to Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 5: Alternative. First revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2009, Alternative is set to pack in motion control support and much, much more.

In addition to using the motion controller for aiming, you'll use it to swing your knife and perform other such actions. Famitsu also says to expect additional new combat elements that one might expect from a motion controller.

The new episode pairs RE5 hero Chris Redfield with classic RE series character Jill Valentine for a scenario that's set three years prior to the events of 5.

A trailer shown at the Tokyo Game Show left some believing that the mansion that serves as the setting for the new episode was the mansion from the original Resident Evil. It's actually different from that. The mansion you'll be playing through appeared in a flashback scene in RE5.

This extra scenario will not be added into the main Resident Evil 5 story, but will be selectable from the main menu. It will add an additional couple of hours of gameplay and will feature more "horror" elements than the rest of Resident Evil 5.

There is also the possibility that some of the additional content will see the light of day on the Xbox 360, though nothing has been confirmed.

Dang, this sorta makes me wish I got it for PS3 instead of Xbox 360.
