Doom 3 Error coinciding with BF2142

I keep getting this ****ty error message when im NOT playing Doom 3 and im playing a different game. It keeps crashing my PC. I have not been able to play anything such as BF2142 because this just crashes it out every minute.

wtf does it mean?

"The wrong volume is In the drive. Please insert volume DOOM3_1 into drive E"

im not even trying to play doom 3 so why is it looking for the CD?

Any help much appreciated.

this is a good question because i have not actually updated to the latest patch for it, in fact i have not updated it at all. I will give it a ago.

EDIT:

Well looks like its all fixed but perhaps it is a little too early to say so yet. I patched Doom 3 up to its latest version and all seems fine at the moment, hopefully it will stay that way.
