Project Efflux Mod Update

Trooper_811 | Comments: 0

The Project Efflux developers have posted an extensive update including screenshots and a discussion of a beta release:
It's been a while, but the people at Project Efflux have finally given us a look at another of their mod updates after a one-month silence. Inside you will find new shots of one of their Misian Capital Ship, along with several different rooms from within, and WIP shots of a reactor and a few characters from within the game.

Status Update
The mod leader, Novu tells us a bit about the mod's progress over the past month.

Me and Riverghost haven't updated in a while (about a month now) on how the project is going, mainly due to time constraints earlier in the month for presentations and uni holidays in the later part of the month.
We have however been working as we normally do and have made some progress on the project since the sdk release a while back, since the last update we have made:
  • Working, movable capital ships
  • rigged textured characters
  • animations and working doors
Some major changes were made to the Misian ship also in order to set them apart from the AOM. Now much of the interior of the ship is partiall submersed in water while other parts are full submersed. If all goes well the 2 races will react differently in these environments having the Misians swim through them at increased speed while the AOM will be disadvantaged by thier heavy armour by having to walk on the bottom.

Work-in-progress Screenshots
Many different screenshots have been released that show off different portions of the mod.

Playable Beta
Novu has also discussed plans on the release of a playable beta within the next month.

works been going pretty solidly on the project, and we are getting towards where we want to be (a playable beta stage) within the next month. currently i am working on finalising character animation & rigging on the AOM Soldier character, and trying to get the new FeRR Rifle ingame.

Now for the big news. Although there is no definite release date set for the demo release, SirBaron has assured us that this will be the last update before it releases. Here's some tidbits of information SirBaron has released regarding the demo. Once the demo releases, the mod will be switching to monthly updates.
  • 20-60 minutes of play time (depending on play style)
  • The demo will include an introductory map plus the first part of the X32I map.
  • There will be no combat, due to the fact that the combat actually takes place about 20 minutes after the demo ends. Therefore, the demo will mainly be an introduction to the mod.

PC Play Magazine Interviews Cevat Yerli

[MyIS]Spawndemon | Comments: 2

The guys over at PC Play magazine have posted up a new interview today with Crytek's Cevat Yerli. Check it out:
PC Play: You have confirmed that Crysis is a trilogy, which is a really, really great thing to know. Taking that Crysis is a part of the Microsoft's Games for Windows program, is the "master plan" making Crysis the killer-app of the Games for Windows platform, as Microsoft did once before with Halo for the Xbox, Sony with Metal Gear Solid for PlayStation or Nintendo with Super Mario?

Cevat Yerli: There is not really a master plan. We just designed Crysis as a trilogy, that was the plan. Of course this largely depends on success of Crysis for PC. As with every game or entertainment property, if the commercial success wont suffice, plans have to be revisited.

PC Play: You confirmed that it's impossible to make Crysis run on an console, but yet there are constant rumors that it's nearly inevitable. Can you finally give us, our readers, and the industry the final answer on that matter? Is Crysis going to be ported to a console?

Cevat Yerli: Crysis as we have seen is impossible. Crysis would have to be largely changed to bring it to Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Crysis is designed to be PC Exclusive. Our internal focus is not linked to bring Crysis to consoles.
