I searched the forums for this, but I got impatient, looking thru all the results...I want to build a new computer, so is it possible to install BF on the new one, after I had it on my other computer? What steps do I have to take to assure EA/DICE that I'm not just installing on more than one PC?

You won't have a problem installing it on your new machine.

So long as you're not using the same CD key on 2 simultaneous account, they have NO idea that you've re-installed it on a new machine (nor do they care).

I wonder why it said 'invalid cd key' when I installed on my laptop? I used the same acct. This is why I asked about installing it on my new computer.

There are lots of reasons for getting the dreaded 'invalid key' error.

The most common one is mistyping the key ;)

Here is a fix you should try:

ftp://ftp.ea-europe.com/UK_Support/EAGAMES/Battlefield_2/BF2CDKeyCheck.exe

If that doesn't work, then re-enter your CD key using the applet that comes with BF2:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\Support\Battlefield2_code.exe

and then re-apply the latest patch.
