BF2 Crashing just as I join servers

All in the title! Ever since I installed 1.3 BF2 has a habbit of crashing just as it joins a server. It sucks ***.

Does anybody else have this problem?

it does it to me when i play on a server and the next map loads the game crashes when i finishes loading that proboly why i got on a 24/7 server that only runs 1 map.

Used to happen to me when i first installed it but after a month it seems to have stopped. i get it much less now then at the beggining.

It only happens to me when I first join a server, the map loads and then just as its about to appear...BANG!!!!! Back to desktop:(

When it doesn't crash I have no problems when server changes map.

Here is something that worked for me, when the "join game" button appears, wait 15 secs or so, then push escape instead of clicking the "join game" button. Try this out, it seems to work for 99% for the time.

try to wait at least 5 secs
seems to help us
ie BF2 to dumb to move too quickly

wat i do and i've heard from some people that this dosn't work all the time but for me it has never failed.
click the "auto ready on" box and waht that does is it makes BF2 "take you into the server by itself" so you dont have to click join game. this does take 20-30 sec.

also, does anybody know when 1.4 is comming out?

i have a different problem when im looking at the server list as i click a server to join my ctd happens then.. anyone else ctd at this time?

I heard that its ready to be released but everytime Dice clicks on the build release button... CTD!!!

Lol, nice to see there's a big family of us out there!!

BTW, it sometimes CTD when the join game button appears, so I dont think those solutions will work for me as I'm not even clicking the button.

It happens to everyone on a routine basis. For me, it happens about 1 out of 5 times. Not something that keeps me from playing, but definitely something that will keep me from spending money on any more DICE products. A great game marred by incompetence and ignorance by the developer. It's a shame, really.
