In an effort to make a game that is both enjoyable to the casual gamer and the hardcore competitive gamer, I appeal to IW to include the following aspects of gameplay:

1st person view default with option for third person.
Ability to record demos and an user friendly demo viewing utility built in.
Punkbuster or some other AC program incorporated into the release, not an afterthought.
Remap key bindings easily; customized for each gamer
Dedicated server files and a server management utility(such as BF2CC in BF2).
Focus on FPS over pretty graphics...anything less than 60 FPS is substandard.
Reduced amount of resources and bandwidth required for dedicated server (reduces costs of server rental for customers).
Integrated VOIP
Release a open beta/demo to thoroughly search and eliminate exploits and bugs.
Be receptive and responsive to feedback from gamers. Sounds simple, but it is often ignored by many leading companies *cough* EA *cough
Do not cater the game to the lower skill levels, BF2 was a great game that was 'dumbed' down to accomodate the weak players and now its destroyed.
Always keep competitive gaming in mind when patching/tweaking gameplay, we are what determines the longevity of a game.

That is all I can come up with ATM. Feel free to add your suggestions and requests for Infinity Ward. Hopefully this will actually assist the developers in creating the best possible game.

That intro of yours... Call of Duty 4 isn't in your hands, and I'm glad. Your 'appeal' looks more like a wish list to Dice. As if they were making a new Battlefield 2.

1. I wouldn't want somebody suddenly turning around when I was about to bash them, and then I die.
2. "/record", "/stoprecord" (may be wrong), "/demo (demo_name)". These demos were first person, I don't know about you, but that's how I want them to stay.
4. "/bind [key] [command] [content]" Isn't that easy enough?
5. Is something wrong with the community created programs? E.g. rcon4cod. That's how CoD and CoD2 were, I actually prefer community created admining programs, there is more than one to chose from. More options, instead of being stuck with a single program that wouldn't be updated once IW moved on.
6. Well, that sounds like you're mildly spoiled. I'm okay with as low as 30 FPS.
8. I really don't want to hear little kids, under 12 commanding me around the map. Nor do I want to hear some punk blasting music.
9. I don't think that will really be a problem if IW doesn't rush CoD4 out.
10. That really isn't something to worry about if you registered on IW's forums. Fourzerotwo is a really nice character.
12. I highly doubt that will be a problem, this game being made by IW.

It seems to me that you are thinking of a different game, made by a different company, with different engines. I also believe that you are wishing for a better, upgraded Battlefield 2. Almost everything you listed was, in my mind, was something you wanted from BF2 in Call of Duty 4- just fixed. Just because it's modern warfare, doesn't mean it'll be the next Battlefield. I am really trying to not cuss you out, your ignorance bothers me so. By the looks of it, you haven't played Call of Duty. You probably don't even know IW has a fairly active forum.

^ Agreed with everything said.

CoD2 already had a first person recorder. But I would also like to see an addition of a playback that you can either freeroam (BF's Battlerecorder) or be able to play back recording without anything on the screen. I am tired to typing in endless console commands to remove some of the HUD if I can't enable cheats on a server. This will help for us movie producers :D

My "intro" eh? Your 5 posts overshadow my lonely 1, so I felt inclined to up my post count with a retort....

I am jaded about BF2 and alot of that may carry over to how I want COD4 to play out. I do not want this to turn into BF3 though. While some of what I requested is in previous COD titles, I listed them again because we cannot just expect IW to put something in that was in a previous title.

These were my suggestions and in no way was I speaking for the masses. I do not play COD2 competitively but I enjoy COD and COD2 on PC as well as COD2 on X360. So I am very familiar with the gameplay. IW has gotten alot of things right and I dont expect that to change. Do you remember the COD AC debacle? I do and I never even played COD2 or 3 competitively, so that request is a valid one. Your assumptions at my ignorance are unfounded.

The demo record ability should have free roam as well as first person. As long as third party developers are working with the support of IW then I am all for rcon4cod. I am in fact registered on charlieoscardelta forums and have played FPS shooters since the days of the original Rainbow Six. If you think 30 FPS is acceptable, then you may be in the minority. Yes I play on a very nice system. I play competitively and if I am pulling less than 90FPS, then it could affect my gameplay. The difference in 30 frames is night and day. 60 FPS is the industry standard for developers and also a player's benchmark for whether your system is able to properly run a game. It may seem like I am on the defensive, and maybe I am. That list was my personal opinion on the main things to help make COD4 a great gaming experience as well as a game that would appeal to the competitive gamer.

At the end of the day, whether you like it or not, COD4 will be compared to BF2, it is inevitable based on the same modern combat environment. So because I made the comparison now, I am to be stoned? Let's be realistic, I do not want an upgraded BF2; I want a great COD4.

I had to assume you hadn't played any of the Call of Duty's because, you were requesting what was already there. Since you cleared it up, I agree with most of what you say.

The demo record ability should have free roam as well as first person. As long as third party developers are working with the support of IW then I am all for rcon4cod.I really don't think the recording will be a problem, I'm assuming the engine that IW is making CoD4 is similar to that of CoD and CoD2.
If IW doesn't make and admining tool, even if they do, there'll most likely be a third party admining tool.

It may seem like I am on the defensive, and maybe I am. That list was my personal opinion on the main things to help make COD4 a great gaming experience as well as a game that would appeal to the competitive gamer.Yes, they should focus on high FPS rates. I'm okay with 30 FPS, but it should be higher.

At the end of the day, whether you like it or not, COD4 will be compared to BF2, it is inevitable based on the same modern combat environment. So because I made the comparison now, I am to be stoned? Let's be realistic, I do not want an upgraded BF2; I want a great COD4.I know it will, it just bothers me. I find it ignorant, because in my mind, those two games are polar opposites. The only real reason I don't like this comparison, is because I don't like global ranks.

1. Ranks and unlocks
2. An easy to use, none-complicated editor with support for imported heightmaps and stuff, with stock objects and whatnot, like the BF2 editor
3. Destructable objects

2. I always wanted one just like that...a lot easier to make maps with than Radiant.

But if we had a BF-like editor, the only way to add our own custom buildings would be by using a 3d editing program. A mix of Radiant/BF Editor would be cool, with the heighmaps, all stock models available for use, and the ability to create your own features/buildings/etc.

And IW please let us copy heightmaps from the maps you make and use them in our own map legally...unlike EA

1. That's what, in my mind, helped ruin BF2.
2. What's wrong with radiant, I mean, it is very simple. Everything is made by the mapper, with the exception of all the prefabs given in Call of Duty 2. You don't have to make new models to make a different era map. Whether you want it or not, I don't think IW would switch their engine this late, and mostly when they're so used to it.
3. Within reason, don't want people escaping maps.

Just because you or somebody else is used to something else, doesn't mean everything should be changed for them. I love radiant, and I prefer it over anything else I've used.

What I am looking for is a map editor that is easy to use (Going quite some time back to a very bad company but...) like Novalogic had with their game Joint Operations:Typhoon Rising. That was the easiest map editor ever and I created maps far better than stock maps.. with no experience at all even.

Also as a few said, some type of ranking system as I believe reading about these "levels" will somewhat be introduced. Maybe not as in depth as Battlefield 2 where higher ranks have more of an advantage, but pretty much it seems their already covering it when I read about the multiplayer "level upgrades" and experience points. Sounds like their going about it far better than EA did

Then what good is that, then all the pub players would make their own litle ideas. The kids with their dreams, making a bad map for each one.

Then you'll be stuck with an account, not able to change something. And this something would be something that everybody wants to change.

Not necessarily. Anyone can go make a map, but they wouldn't have the server to support it. Only the best survived, I had a 150 man server that was full almost 24/7 with my custom maps. It worked like a charm for Novalogic and it's what kept the game alive for a good 6 more months.

In English please. What I said is pretty much I hope what they have already been stating their going to be doing is what they follow through with; "Experience Point System", "Level Upgrades", "Custom Classes"

CoD Files would be filled with a ton of crap from all the pub players. These maps would eventually get on a server, because there are tons of 'family' clans with children having server control. So, yes, they would have the server to support it. Oh, and, ther's no need to brag. I bet you could fill a 150 man server with decent maps. The makers of that game must've done a really bad job with making the maps, for you to make better maps.

You need to take an English course yourself. The bolded word, has the wrong spelling or grammar. The underlined sentance doesn't even make sense, read it over again. You also forgot punctuation for that last sentance.

Yes they did do a horrible job, hence they haven't released a game in what. . . years

And I just graduated High School so my mind threw out all my English learnings until College, but you still never told me what you meant in English, just that Im a hypocrite

The "phrase" you gave was so incomprehensible, I haven't a clue what you meant. Yet, you say you don't need any help with your English.

I basically said that, the player would be stuck with "something", and this "something" might be a name, number, etc. And all of those things, I could see people wanting to change or hide.

yup. that is a wishlist for you.
i wish that they came out with a new BF2 patch, but we all know that isn't likely.
