EA (http://forums.easports.com/mboards/thread.jspa?sls=2&tstart=0&threadID=101721) has recently made a post on their forum about the 1.4 patch, along with a full changelog of the patch. Take a look:

Attention Soldiers!

We just got an update from DICE and the 1.4 patch that was scheduled for today has been delayed as the team makes final reviews on the patch. The release date for this patch currently is TBD, but we will update this announcement when we get new information on the patch. Apologies for the lateness of this update. Below is a list of the new content and fixes that will be included in the 1.4 patch.

With the release of the 1.4 patch we have made significant improvements to player and server stability as well as introduced more ranked content for players to enjoy. Along with the many bug fixes we have included the new map “ Road to Jalalabad” which is sponsored by Comcast making this patch is an excellent step forward for the Battlefield Franchise. We would like to thank everyone who helped support the Beta effort. Please take a moment to review the fix list for this patch:

1.4 Patch – New content

· New level: Road to Jalalabaad (Conquest 16-32-64, Singleplayer, Co-op)
· New Server Option: No Vehicles mode

1.4 Patch – Fix List

Front End:

· Front end - Fixed server browser issues with updating info
· Front End - Multiplayer & Co-op - Players on server list can include Bots instead of human players
· Multiplayer Server filter “maps size” will now work
· Fixed an issue in the front end where pressing tab twice in the IP window would cause the cursor to skip to wrong box

damn, sounds like a pretty good change list..

I'm still pissed about having vehicle drop in the game, but at least now it has been limited somewhat.

BS So 16 player servers get didly crap for the lesser players needed to start....ohhh I know why, so they can grab YET ANOTHER BUCK thinking we all going to cough up more dough for the 32 player....what a low dirty trick!!!

I am happy they fixed the major stuff. But they left out the F-35/J-10 issue, I guess I will still be banning J-10 whores!

So I see it. Dice does not want it FAIR! They can blow me~!

c4 throwing is now MORE difficult?? soon c4 is gonna be usless, if u run to a tank and drop one c4 one it, and ,like, have to wait 3 seconds to throw a second one.

· Introduced a delay from proning to standing to help reduce exploiting - wtf exploit is that? this really screwed me over several times when i was playing beta.
· Adjusted C4 to make throwing more difficult - i havn't seen c4 throwing since the first patch, its just gonna make it harder to kill tanks
and the lack of a j-10 fix is terrible. stupid game.

Because C4 is not a football. If oyu ever played a team in CAL or TWL that just throws C4 everywhere to win, then youd be happy. :D

the C4 thing only eliminates being able to jump and throw C4.

Which I admit, was pretty silly. They could've killed two birds with one stone if they made a delay between standing and prone >.>

seems that they did a pretty good job now ppl wont have to re-install windows in order to get rid of that crash bug, plus cmon ppl they just want the game a little more realistic, where in h3ll have you seen a real troop doing dolphin diving or trowing C4 like crazy ;) .

i like this patch so far now to wait for BF 2142 :)

What do they mean by making it harder to throw? Isn't it hard enough when you have to be next to tanks/APC's to plant the C4's whilst dodging enemy fire. If anything they should have brought back the ability to throw C4's higher and further than they are now and make it so it can only exploded when it lands. Why go nerf something that nobody wanted to be nerfed? It's the same thing with the helicopter rockets first it was 14 then they reduced it out of nowhere because one of the DEV said it had to much rockets....... :hmm:

What is EA/DICE's motto?

Fix whatevers not broke, and break whatever that works?

plus cmon ppl they just want the game a little more realistic

If they wanted things more realistic Neither the MEC or PLA would have UAV's F35's would be invisible on radar. The US would practically be overpowered in every aspect of the game.

Ah man, no Assault fix. Well they're bound to fix the J10/Claymore issue in another patch so let's hope they fix it then. As long as this patch makes the game nice and stable and bug-free i'll be happy to wait yonks for a gameplay fixing patch.

Fixed a crash which would occur when c4 was placed on a flag pole and the server rotated maps.

why get rid of the zombies:cry:. the red/blue bug fixxed at last, some good news then but they're forgetting bigger things like hotel glitch. hopefully stability fixes will work.

At least you'll be able to get to your destination without dying in seconds from some .50 cal machine gun, unless an LGM or TV missile happens to hit you...

^ One in every crowd I guess. Oh well, at least it gives me a reason to post... Let me get this straight....You want there to be less than 8 players in a 16 player server??? That's 4 on 4. I guess you just want to run around in your tiny K-Mart server and point whore by base taking constantly since there aren't enough people around to defend anything. As for banning J-10 whores... If you're running your K-Mart server on 16 players, you won't have anyone to ban, eh? If you're unable to hang with a decent pilot in a J-10, why not cut out the maps that include China or at least bump them down to 16 players? Better yet, why don't you find your sack and hop in an F-35 an gun the bastard down. Ahh, it's becoming obvious why you can't manage to get 8 players in your server. It's because you're too busy kicking people for owning you...

As for the patch. Nice fix list. Sure we need a little nerfing on the J-10 but it's not completely intolerable. Glad the red/blue bug is fixed and servers can be sorted by map size. Haven't had too much trouble with server stability but any improvements in that area are always welcome. I'd still like the yaw increased for attack choppers but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. All in all, looking forward to the release...

You obviously don't run a server or you wouldn't have opened you pie hole!

FYI Mr. Smart-@$$ - it only takes 3 on 3 to start a 16 player server. Yes I would have liked to see this 2 on 2....not to stat pad like you so bravely say without even knowing me, but to get the game started. You see, if you had your own server you would know that people join rather quickly AFTER the game is running!! My server is just fine, just woulda been nice to see some fairness here. Or did you not see that FAIR part? Lower a 32, and 64 and piss on the 16....so they can get an extra buck!

The J-10 crap I don't even need to explain. Obviously you don't fly much either. So please, until you can grasp things, don't show your stupidy by opening your trap!

From what i can see its a good job ea/DICE and good on ya for reducing the player limit ive been wanting this for ages for a 32 slot to 6 people before ranked i look forward to the realease

Seems like the only valauable things that they fixed are the name tag fix and the server and client crashing fixes. The balance still needed some tweaking with planes, the cartillery crap isn't going to be fixed, c4 harder to throw?...great now we'll have to go prone on a tank to plant c4...I was looking forward to this patch, not anymore.

I think I'm going to just wait until the cool mods like PoE and FH2 come out before I play BalanceField 2 again.

I dunno if its just me, but didnt that change log read a little odd... I mean it didnt seem like an offical change log. The whole thing was rather sloppy and laid out badly. Maybe its just me, but a post from someone who has been a member only a month or two with poor language skills doesnt really encourage me on the fix list.

But I could be wrong...

I understood your BS post entirely. Yes, I ran a BFV server and I guess you're right about flying. I only have my veteran aviator badge and 3,000 kills in a plane. Admitting that you ban people for using a specific vehicle shows that you're a no-talent gamer who gets off on the power trip that you get from running a server. Even a lame mini-server like yours... Saying that EA screwed you by not allowing a game to start with less players is ridiculous. Like I said before, you'd get more people in your server if it weren't for your sh1tty approach to being an admin. It might help if it could handle a decent number of players as well.

On another note...I've been on TotalBF2 almost since the beginning. I'm not sure what screwed up my post count but I've posted well over 2,000 times. Lots of debates and discussions, tips and tricks... I submitted the slogan that the site uses as well. But looking at this thread, I can't help but think that the community on here has turned to sh1t. Nothing but complaints about the game that you've all logged hundreds of hours on. Nothing constructive or positive at all. Just insults aimed at EA and Dice. I'm no fan boy. I've written my fair share of critical e-mails to EA. But those were sent directly to EA. Bashing them in a forum that's supposed to be for fans of the game doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Maybe the temper tantrum kids will get bored and leave the forums...One can only hope...

Dont hold your breath on that one, Pizza Hut here in australia has been selling the game for $15.. they had a meal deal where you got the game and pizza n stuff for $34.95. So dont hold ya breath, there are pleanty of newbies afoot with complaints and many a old veteran players still *****. I have been on here since the begining and frankly one thing i notice, no matter what you complain about nothing will be done... infact the more you complain the more apparant a bug becomes lol.

Isnt this kinda backwards? I mean, the complaint from the masses is that when you go prone your accuracy is increased. So with this fix you can still dive and roll around like a guy on fire. You just have to wait to stand up?? Seems to me like that isnt really hindering the "exploitation". Just giving the "exploiter" a breather before moving on to the next guy.

I dont really have much problem with the divers since I have learned where the hitboxes "are" and not where they "should be". Still though, its pretty lame to see guys doing it all time and I doubt any newcomers (notice I didnt say "noob") or casual players have.can deal with it.

Game Server

Increased server stability
All levels - Co-op – Fixed a crash after reviving player without a kit- 1st attempt
Server - Linux 32 Dedicated – Fixed the server crash when trying to rotate maps in Special Forces Co-op Mode (fixed on SUSE only. Still present in Red Hat and Fedora)
Adjusted the minimum number of players to start the round. The new values for 16, 32 and 64 players are 6, 6 and 8 respectively.
Unlocks are once available on unranked servers.
Ranked server have to have unlocks activated.
Fixed Issue with the local coop server - If Server Host is kicked and banned although they do not actually get kicked, no other players may join the server after that point.
Fixed a dedicated server crash which was occurring when the user held "CTRL" and "SHIFT" while selecting a map
Fixed a crash which would occur when c4 was placed on a flag pole and the server rotated maps
Fixed a Vehicle drop crash related bug (missing icon)
Co-Op bot console commands do not function on local servers.
Client / Gameplay:

Increased client stability
Red/Blue nametag bug – Fix to the issue where players would show up with the wrong color name tag
Introduced a delay from proning to standing to help reduce exploiting
Adjusted C4 to make throwing more difficult
Fixed the issue where a red distance marker appears on the ground
Fixed the issue that caused players arms to become invisible after switching weapons when using throwable items
Made adjustments to reduce the damage taken by vehicles when driving
Commander options will no longer available whilst dead.
Fixed the issue with a spawn point showing up as selected when a player has spawned in during preview round
Fixed the issue that would cause infantry players to be revived with no kit.
Fixed several rare graphics crashes.
Fixed issue with players crashing while clicking "Join Game" in the front end
Car-Drop: Made adjustments to the car drop feature to help prevent players from exploiting into buildings.
Fixed an issue tied to projectiles which would sometimes allow tanks to fire two shells, support to fire multiple rounds, and other issues (all maps).
Fixed bug where after 2 rounds on the same map, the top player stars are awarded to the wrong people in the menu
Transport Helicopters – Increased the armor of all transport helicopters

No. On unranked servers unlocks were not available if you had them even if the serversetting was on. Servers always had an option to allow the players unlocks on unranked servers if he had them but in 1.3 this feature was broken.

wait, this is the patch we've waited so long for, went through the community testing their betas as free labor, had a subforum dedicated to suggestions and feedback, and now have to hear about a patch release date that came and went when they should have stuck to "coming soon"?

what a load. maybe instead of spending their time working on expansion packs and a future game they should finish working on the game they've already started.

i see 2 sides argue, those who hate everything about the game and those who would be EA/DICE's personal butt-wipers, but i'm your moderate BF2 fan that has bought all previous BF games who is feed up with all this garbage. I look forward to all the great mods in the future and will NOT be buying another EA/DICE game until they pull their heads out of their.....

1. Remove the antenna from the airfields. There are no antenna on runways.

2. Elevate the stinger sites and don't burier them in holes and behind buildings. They are usually placed on the higher elevations.

3. Remove the sandbags from TOW sites so one can shoot in all directions. That has gotten me kill numerous times.

4. Return the Mines to the pre-patch(s) level, and remove punishment of the engineer for placing them. How does a mine know that your friendly?? One should be able to explode them by C4 or armor gun.

5. Increase the range and power of the stinger. I am so tired of the high hovering helo launching TV missiles that one cannot shoot down because they are so hight that they are out of range.

um wasnt seat switching supposed to be addressed? no? was it in the beta? if so, could someone explain to me exactly how it worked?

It's been so long since I've played BF2 properly. I think since I've got a new hdd, fresh install... I might give it another go when the patch comes out.

*Sigh* was realy hopeing the would make the anti tank with p90 have a anit air missle. Would teach all those *** who just bomb the carrier with out care.. But EA sucks balls So they never do that. Red tag error is a good one to fix... just exprinced that and it sucked... so many tks... Damn you ea!

I had an bug that gave my enemy a blue tag, lol i thought my ally did spawn at an enemy flag.

and from what iv been told BF2142 isnt that hot just lots of eye candy .
well their not making any m8s with this 1.4
prob just fix some probs make new ones like they care if we enjoy it .
we have already paid for it so we are stuck with it 1.3 or 1.4.
truth be told id rather go back to one of the other updates than carsh all the time :mad:

Little do they realise that at the moment a lot of us would be happy to pay a small fee for a patch that actually fixes most of the problems. I wouldn't be happy about it but I wouldn't hesitate to pay for it.

NO WAY DO YOU PAY FOR A PATCH. YOU ONLY PAY FOR MODS AND SUCH, but a patch????? Don't give EA/DICE anymore money for BF2 until they fix it. This isn't directed towards you; just don't want them charging the community for something they should do anyways for free. So the patch has been delayed, we can live with it. Providing the patch is done right. I understand the complaints and the issues. I have been dealing with the same issue's most have. I get frustrated, but still play the game because I enjoy it. Every game I have ever played, never charges for a patch. Good companies will realize the bug/error and resolve the issue. Developing software and such is a real pain in the a**. I know Dice has their hands full at the moment trying to boost the sales of BF2142 and keep the current bf2 community happy. I have purchased every BF game made. Some good/some bad, but I still play because 90% of it is done right and I enjoy the hell out of it. The only way most of the little bugs will go away, is for EA/DICE to do away with the BF2 engine and redo it altogether. This is something they can't afford to do and I don't think they will. We will be playing BF5142 or whatever they will call it. When it comes out a year from now, we will be bitching about the bugs in BF2142 and waiting in the dark on current patches. This is the norm with Dice and I think it will always be this way. Alright I put my 2 cents in....Sorry for the rant!

as for balance issues...its their decision to keep BF2 as arcady as possible for the kids (G8+ game) so let it be

for balance issues just play the mods
