Total Battlefield 2 has recently been given the opportunity to ask a number of questions to the team behind Sonic Valley Productions. This team excels in custom audio for games and has been a part of many projects already. Here's a portion of what you'll find in the interview:
TotalBF2: Much of your work will be featured in the upcoming Battlefield 2 mod Desert Conflict. How many new sounds were created for this project?
Tom: Well our plan is to change every single sound in BF2, otherwise it couldn't really be considered a total conversion mod. That is certainly a tall order, but our priority is to get all our new content sounding correct, then to change all original BF2 content. Between all original music beds, ambience, weapon and vehicle sounds, let's just say it's a whole lot.

We would like to give a big thanks to Sonic Valley Productions for taking the time out to answer some of our questions. We hope you all now know a little bit more about what goes into the audio for games.
HOLY CRAP!! THANK GOD! I hate BF2 sounds. Finally someone makes new sounds, all other games have sound mods and stuff. THaannnnk u sonic vally. But it said it takes two weeks to make a vehicle..does that mean its gonna take like a year to do the whole game..?

Great interview. This is the first I have seen from an audio dev team, lol. I didnt know there was such a thing.
I hope audio in general picks up for the MOD seen. Some do a great job, others, well, you can tell there just getting by, but not shining in that dept by any means.
Are there any other all audio dev squads out there? I went by the sonicvalley website, very impressive stuff.
Spell check might have helped, lol, but since when do audio music guys do a lot of typing, lol.

We are very honored to have them as a part of the team. Just you wait boyz and girlz, you might just poop yourselves with the sounds they unleash!
And what the perfect mod to do these sounds for. DCOn is gonna be 10x better with sonic vally helping. Im so exicted that this is my 2nd post in this thread. :)

Well, it wont take that long. Thanks to the flawless stability of the bf2 editor, its all a very fast abd smooth process.
Our first priority of course is to get all of our DCON content sorted and sounding great. We will have all in house music and map load songs.
The bf2 sounds are acutally very good. If you compare them to say DC or bf1942 sounds as an example, they are leaps and bounds better. I am very impressed with DICEs audio team.
People seem to be looking for more impact, and more depth. I think the excitement factor is lost in terms of levels and such, which we will try to fix.
My hats go off to the DICE audio team though, and I never kiss butt.

Is that some kind of bad joke? Practice what you preach kid, your spelling's atrocious and a prime example of the typical young generation's educational skills, or (heavily) lack thereof.
'scene' not 'seen'
'their' not 'there'
Next time you decide to rag on other people's spelling, take a look in the mirror first.

I look at myself in the mirror constantly, im gorgeous to say the least.
I think you might want to rethink the 'scene' not 'seen' comment, lol.
Heres a link to the definition of "Seen", and when one would use it in a sentence. Notice how it fits the sentence I used it in perfectly? http://www.selfknowledge.com/86091.htm
The comment about the grammar was indeed lighthearted, did you read the post I put up? Its mostly interest and praise. Being that I am a keyboard player and do my mixing and recording, this is a subject I am very interested in. Like I said, its the first I have "seen".
If you havent checked out thier site yet, do yourself a favor. Pretty interesting stuff.

Try and tone down the music so people can actually hear the vehicles/gun sounds/voices (Although i'm guessing voices will be BF2 voices since it's already American and Arabic).
I don't think anyone wants some cheesy rock overlay ruining the whole thing tbh. Wouldn't be very nice for the Sonic Valley dudes who spend 2(!) weeks on every vehicle.
