The Point of Existence 2 (http://www.pointofexistence.com/) mod website has once again been updated with some exciting information. They plan on releasing the server files on August 22nd, the passworded client torrent on August 24th and client download links on August 26th. Read on for more information:

As was declared in Update #76 we have some very thrilling news tonight. The news that undoubtedly everyone wants to know, WHEN WILL POE RELEASE!!

POE's release will go like this:
-On Tuesday August 22nd at 7pm PST we will release server files.
-On Thursday August 24th at 7pm PST we will open up a passworded client torrent release
-On Saturday August 26th at 12noon PST we will release the download links and torrent password.

The release party will begin at 11am PST, please join us in our IRC channel.
Our IRC channel is #pointofexistencemod which is on the GameSurge network.
You can join either by using an IRC client or by using the java page located on the main website.

We can’t leave everyone with nothing more then some dates tonight! What’s more fitting for a release date then a Teaser?

Very cool trailer, I liked the theme, music and the POE animated logo (I bet not enough people appreciate that). It's a shame BF2 doesn't have better support for destructable environments because the barn exploding after being hit with an RPG at the beginning of the trailer would've looked awesome. Can't wait till this is released, I think once word gets out about this it should take the steam out of BF2142.


P.S. I hope the machine guns in this game are a lot more accurate than the garbage in BF2; the spread with BF2 guns is ridiculous.

Anyway, what if 1.4 changes everything? It should be coming out on tuesday (the patch) and it might change all the PoE stuff (becuase i'm guessing it was built for 1.3) so they might have to tweak some stuff to make it 1.4 freindly. That's just me guessing, and saying so don't be so fixated on that release date...

Our builds have been tested vs the beta versions of 1.4 without any issues. We have to assume its going to be the same for the actual release of 1.4. If not, we will just release a hotpatch afterwords.

The music is from the orignal PoE1 for bfv and was composed by "Shableep" who is no longer with the team

The sounds were all from PoE2 or BF2, I had to add some sounds in post production due to audio issues while recording the footage itself, but the majority of the sound is from the actual shots we rendered.

Mostly correct, but server files wont be locked. We want server ops to have a couple days to get thier stuff setup and see if there are any issues with all of the different systems out there.

Need to have plenty of servers for people to play on when the mod releases :)

This is just a bandwagon topic buddy. Most of the people complaining have no idea what they are talking about anyways, lol.

You are correct, the hardest work was done for us by EA\DICE. We are just tweaking and putting makeup on the pig.

Keep in mind that no one has done this sort of thing with FPS before. Global ranking, Unlocks, always loading to a central server.

Yes, it seems they have made a great MOD. Most of us have not played it for even one round yet, so most of us saying how great a job they have done have no idea what we are talking baout ATM, lol.

Big hand clap to all the MOD teams. There are some great ones done and being updated, and some great ones on the horizon. POE seems like it will be as good as any of the others I have been watching.

Quake Wars, 2142, etc are for a different bread than hardcaroe FPS Modern Combat games. Frontlines War will most likely do far more damage to this franchise than any of those will. Man will that game kick ***, POE should do the smart thing and move to that game and the UR3 engine when its time. I am sure most of the DEV teams are already thinking about it.

Well, there is some blood line connections between DICE\BF2 and the KAOS teams if you think abou it. What I think, is that Frontlines will be the new standard game to be playing, and get back into competing in ladders.

I hope POE and several MOD teams head in that direction when the time comes. RIght now it is BF2, and soon we get POE2 for free. Its not a perfect world, but I think we are lucky to say the least. :cool:

Yeah I can't wait to see how Frontlines: Fuel of War turns out. Since some of the desert combat team (including frank himself) are involved I'm quite optimistic (as long as they don't dumb it down too much because of the 360/PS3) about it although it's not getting very much media attention.

all the music in our game is orginal... it was all made by one of team members.... we are also known to have some incrediable in-game sounds, and let me ask u this, did u ever play PoE for BFV? if u havnt, then u dont know what PoE2 will offer, so keep your unwanted flaming to your self till you play the mod, im 100% sure it will change ur mind! Unless of course your one of the people who likes to whore the APC in BF2 and HAS to HAVE the highest rank.... if thats so, then well u should get the point... Also you say the audio is pretty bad, do you have any experience with modding or messing with audio for games? im pretty sure you dont, so please again, keep your comments to your self, it makes u look like an idiot

Frontlines will get exposure because of the PS3/360 crowd so it will definitely not be some exclusive FPS. Like I said, what worries me is that they may cater more to the console crowd to make more money and we'll end up with a disappointing dumbed down game.

As for the music used in the POE teaser, I liked it so it just goes to show everyone has different tastes. If they had stuck some headbanger music in there then I'd have vomited. The only suggestion I have for future trailers is to show more infantry combat and highlight the abilities of the weapons some more so those of us watching can get a better idea of what the gameplay will be like. Having a dramatic trailer with a bunch of APCs looks nice and all but it does lack substance.

Well orchestral music isnt really that big of a part of the actual game. Just loading etc. If you want crazier stuff, play Sandbox or Sir. mod.

Its hard to tell from a video , because of the intense compression on the file. THe new gun sounds were great from what I could tell, and thats what I mainly pay attention to.

Saturday the mod is released and the password given to the torrent file.
