GameSpy (http://www.gamespy.com/) has just released their list of highly anticipated games coming this fall and of course Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has made the list. Check it out:
It's been our opinion for a while that Infinity Ward can do little wrong. The team that was originally born out of its work on the stellar Medal of Honor: Allied Assault went on to create the first two Call of Duty titles, both of which nabbed countless accolades (including GameSpy's 2003 PC Game of the Year for Call of Duty). Returning to the franchise for Call of Duty 4 (CoD3 was a console-only title developed by Treyarch), Infinity Ward is leaving WWII behind in favor of a modern setting, and, from everything we've seen, has another killer title on its hands.
Aside from the new setting, CoD4 will be a little different from its predecessors with more emphasis on a single-player narrative, which centers on a Russian ultra-nationalist who wants to restore the Soviet Union to its former glory, even if it starts a war in the process. What doesn't appear to be changing, however, is the series' ability to drop you into the middle of a war zone as part of a larger squad and overwhelm you with stellar combat sequences. On top of this, Infinity Ward is beefing up the multiplayer side with new modes, customizable character classes and a slew of Achievement-style objectives and bonuses that promise to keep the series going strong long after finishing the single-player campaign.
