Infinity Ward: We're going after Halo 3...

ComputerAndVideoGames (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/) has reported that the guys over at Infinity Ward are going to take the competition head on when it comes to Call of Duty 4. Check it out:

Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 is one of many console big budget first-person shooters due to be released this Christmas. But for the developer there's only one game in its sights when it comes to Xbox 360 - Bungie's Halo 3.

"Some people say 'Oh gosh, there's this big competition out there and so we should move our ship date because we're feeling uncomfortable'. We love competition. I think for the 360 it's pretty much Halo 3 that's the competition so we're going after who we think are at the top of the game right now and we want to take those guys on", Infinity Ward president and studio head Grant Collier told Next-Gen.

He went on to declare that with Call of Duty 4 on PS3 "we're number one". Epic and Unreal Tournament III may have something to say about that.

Both Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 will be impressive shooters, but can the former really stomp all over Master Chief's debut on Xbox 360? We can but wait and see...

Difficult to say.

Both the Halo series (and from what i can tell) the CoD series have got a very big popularity rating with the gaming community.

For me personally i'm not going to say whether CoD4 will be better than Halo 3, so i guess i'll have to see which one dominates the other when they are released

FWIW, I've seem comments from quite a few people, both in web postings and through live conversations in person, who have played both the Halo 3 demo and the COD4 Beta, and almost all of them are going with COD4.

We'll just have to wait and see...most 360 owners will buy both sooner or later...

Halo was awesome, but Halo 2 already wasn't a big deal at all. In the end there will be many opinions as always. I think the games are too different to really see a challenge there.

I think COD 4 will win with the originality it has. From what I have seen Halo 3 won't be much different from it's predecessors.

Its really apples and oranges but I went to Gamestop and the clerk said he'd much rather kill someone with a Mini-Nuke than a rifle :)

I'd much rather shoot a rifle based on actual fact than Sci-Fiction :)
