View Full Version : Simplifying the chopper flight.

Before I start let me say that I fully realize the very thought of dumbing down helicopter flight in BF2 is repulsive to some people. I respect that opinion and agree that it would be a bad idea for a community mod.

Having said that I wanted to see if I can make an auto hover feature for some friends of mine who occasionally play BF2 during our LAN parties, but not enough to seriously learn how to fly a chopper. The idea would be that I'd press a button (or let go of all controls) and the chopper would almost immediately level out and hover without any adjustments at all.

Again, this is not meant to be a post to debate whether or not this is a good idea, but rather to see if anyone has implemented this or if anyone has any ideas which tweak setting could simulate it.

Thanks.

BF2 already has this autohover feature which sucks balls in my opinion..
I would love to get rid off it but hmm

He said he wasn't stating this as an opiniotive post.

But your post did make me realize that I need to remove this feature, and whilst looking to remove, it should be the same as looking to add, or increase it. Once I do it i'll tell you how it works and what you can do to work with it.

That would be great, Frosty. I'd appreciate that.

One thing I did notice is a command in the tweak file called "setAutomaticReset". It's always set to 1 for each engine, and my guess is that this has something to do with the auto hover feature. If so then I need to figure out how to make it much mroe pronounced, and you need to figure out how to get rid if it. Maybe you just need to set it to 0 for all engines?
