Point of Existence

Some love it, some hate it, some have no idea what I'm talking about.

Some like me have long awaited it, having spurts of updates showcasing the new vehicles, weapons, and skins, basically just a bunch of eye candy.

Last Thursday they released the passworded client files, and people scrambled to unlock it, even though they had only a day or so to wait. The password was eventually released sooner than expected, seeing as their was a slip and it was spread all across the forums.

I am here to give a brief overview of the mod.
I will not be listing vehicles, nor weapons or maps. I have not memorized the mod, so I will just explain it as I would explain rounds of Vanilla Battlefield 2.

---------------
GAMEPLAY
---------------

The gameplay is similar to that of Battlefield 2, but yet there is a subtle addition to the need for teamwork. While you still can have 10 people calling in arty, the artillery can still essentially choose what target to hit. The camera follows the artillery shot, and so you can follow it to where you think the best spot would be, regardless of the spotted area.

AT rockets, while still needing about 3 to take down a tank, require more skill and stealth to succesfully take down a tank. You cannot move them or direct them after fired, so you need to make careful judgements and find a good spot so the tank won't see the smoke trails.

The gameplay also utilizes ALOT of smoke, seeing as many more classes have smoke grenades in their loadout, and 2 of them too. These are great for crossing bridges and other obstacles, and the smoke lasts for about 15 seconds to allow time for the actual movement.

Snipers on both sides of the board are about even. Both are semi-automatic, and have good crosshairs to go along with that. They will both take down soldiers in two clean shots, like a regular bolt action rifle. Your also equipped with your standard claymores (might i add great new explosion sound) and pistol and knife.

Most other classes remain similar, with only minor changes, new guns and addition of smoke grenades, binoculars, etc.

*NOTE

The guns seem to do either less damage, or the people seem to have more health, seeing as it take many more shots to kill someone that in regular Battlefield 2. However, this is balanced out for the most part with the rate of fire and accuracy.

Supply crates also re-heal and resupply alot slower, so don't expect them to be very quick trips.

---------------
Vehicle Changes
---------------

One change you will note right off the bat is the increased speed on almost all vehicles. The tanks, jeeps, everything is faster.

Tanks carry 2 types of rounds
HEAP is for anti-infantry
and SABOT is anti tank

you have limited of each, so use them wisely

The machine gun on the tank is VERY strong, but overheats quickly, but it rips right through infantry and has a menacing sound to it.

Transport have about the same armor, but some have camera mounted machine guns, which come in useful at times.

Helicopters, both transport and Attack alike are both unique.
Each side has different-ability helicopters
One side has missile firing attack choppers with AA missiles

While the other has a strong machine gun and missiles.
This is the Mi-24 or close to it I believe
It can also transport up to 6 troops I also believe.

---------------
Anti-Air
---------------

Anti air comes in many forms in this mod

You can find a pick up kit, and have stinger launchers

And there is also the beloved flack, which actually requires SOME skill to use, and is hella tight.

Nothing is overpowered, and it balances the game just perfectly

---------------
Pickup Kits
---------------

This will be my last topic, atleast for now seeing as I need to go to bed.

These kits rock. You can get anything from stinger launchers to Anti material rifles. That's right, anti MATERIAL rifles, these things damage armor, and kill infantry one shot.

These are a great addition to the game, and can change things up.

And on some levels, the AT rockets become AP, using HEAP rounds to kill infantry rather than tanks.

---------------
Summary
---------------

all in all, this mod is a need to download in my books (I don't have a book)

And from what I've seen, there are working RANKED POE servers
so yes, you statwhores can play this too :P

While there are some aspects such as damage that could be slightly tweaked, the game is very balanced and easily playable.

So go pick it up today.
