I have downloaded PoE. When I install it, it goes all the way to 100%. Than it stops and give me this :

Setup is missing the file PoE2-v1.0.0.0-mappack.cab
Please place the missing file in the same location as this installer :
C:\Documents and Settings\-------\Desktop

I can't say for sure what is going on when you install, but here is how I got mine to work.

The 1+GB archive yields two files when you unpack it - the installer itself and another RAR file called map-pack something. Do not try to unpack that further. Both files have to be in the same directory for the installation to complete.

When I ran the installer, it simply grabbed what it needed from the map-pack RAR file and everything was fine and dandy.

I hope it helps - I don't know if it makes any difference, but the file I downloaded was NOT a bit-torrent file but simply a RAR archive.

Good luck with getting it to work - it's a very entertaining MOD and a wonderful free gift that POE guys have given us all. While very similar to BF2 in many respects, there is also a lot that is very different.

Cheers :-)

I am still having the same problem. I just realised that the mappack came in the Zipped folder. I downloaded it from FileFront.com and it seems not to work. Because when I open the map folder it gives me a message "This File Has Been Damaged" I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to host it or send it to me. It is a pretty big file though.

unzip both files to your desktop, run the exe, leave the .cab alone

Yes, both the .exe and the mappack have to be in the same location.
During install the .exe is looking for that mappack and if it's not in the same folder or loaction as the .exe it won't find it and you will get that error.

I said that the file is damaged I cant extract it or move it. It is damaged period. Never mind I have a new one now. Yeah I knew it had to be in the same location as the modification but it was corrupted. Thanks for the help guys.
