High guys im new to these forums but been around TBF2142 and ET forums for a long time. Basically i have never played CoD (shameful i know) but i am not new to the multiplayer scene having played all of the BF Series, ET:QW's, Wolf ET and TF2 <--- Love that game :D

Basically im thinking very much about downloading the single player to see what its like but i just wanted to ask how do i know its really for me.

Can anyone suggest any games that they are particularly like? And when it comes down to it, does it involve alot of teamwork to win using TS or VOIP.

I live in Aus and the demo isnt released till midnight here but before i download however many gigs it is i just want to make sure im going to like it.

P.S Are things such as walls destructible in this game?

Thanks for the help guys

:)

I must admit that i havent been on cod2 multiplayer much but did give it a go some time ago & it reminded me alot of dod multiplayer. If u are unsure then maybe you should give that a go or just wait and see if you enjoy playing the demo first;)

I'm new to the forums also but there is a great chance you like it.
Comparable to a bf2 without vehicles, with smaller-sized maps and more interior fights, many game modes. Every MP FPS can involve alot of teamwork, it does not depend on the game but rather on the server/mates you play with. The thing I always hated in bf2 was its total lack of accuracy in the network management which caused ballistics to go weird and did not 'pay' enough skilled aimers. So I'm looking forward to this opus, even if I regret it ain't WW2 (thats moddable :p)

Cheers

Ok, i kind of compared it a bit to WoldET because that has no vehicles but im not sure about the pace of the multiplayer. I have looked at a few movies and beta videos but none of them are of good enough quality to be able to tell.

Im all about the multiplayer and i want to know the pace of the game and if things such as walls and buildings are destructible. I like the unlock sequence though and the fact you can choose certain types for your gun and different kit customizations.

S&D is going to be very close to CS:S. Cars are destructible, but you can only shoot through walls, not destroy them.

While I have played the original COD and various demos of later version, I have never tried it online.
And SP never had me worrying much about accuracy etc.,so I dont really know the mechanics of the game.

So what I want to know from you veterans is how shooting in COD4 compares to BF2142?

In BF I usually go for crouch/zoom burstfire at the head, but for all I know that may be suicide in COD4?

Alternatively I also like the shotgun because there was no movement penalty, how does that work in COD?

Maybe there is a site somewhere that explains these things?

CoD is going to be a lot different than BF2142 in the respect that people die a lot faster (1 shot with a bolt sniper is death). Basically in CoD you're going to want to use cover a lot to be a small target and just ADS for the head. You have very high accuracy when ADS standing/moving/jumping, so you don't want to stand still to much either.

The shotgun is going to be a lot like BF2142 (you can move fast without accuracy problems) but just a bit more powerful.

Why does everyone take their crosshair off?

Well, it makes screenshots look much better...and a lot of people like it for the realism/immersion aspect. Personal preference. I keep them on, myself, for those unexpected emergencies where you need to spray 'n pray.

Have you tried playing without x-hairs? At first it sucks. Your attention naturally focuses on the center of the screen though, so after a while it gets pretty easy to hit people.

With a game like CoD4, it looks like I'll either be ADS at med/long range, or spamming my melee attack at close range. And even if you want to use your gun at short range, you have such a large target, it's hard to miss.

Personally, I make my x-hairs pink and turn down the opacity. At least then I have a slight subconscious reference and my mind pretty much filters it out of my vision.

<-- Also a BF2/2142 vet who will be playing a CoD game for the first time. In that regard, I like seeing what people who know both games are saying.

Having now played it, I guess there is a BF2 feel to it. Also Ive heard "intense" banded around to describe it, and I agree 100%. Its very well presented, much more so than bf2. It's all about infanty which I love. The other stuff in BF2 was cool but could be annoying.

I think this might be similar to a mod for CS:S called Insurgency. It was a similar type of game. I can see COD4 being abit like that but hopefully not so realistic. I think there is always a realism line, for me anyway, when it gets annoying as hell dying all over the shop. I hope its not the case with the shoot through walls thing, although you can be clever with it.

All in all, if you liked BF2 I'd say this game seems good.
