I'm gonna have to say back with BF 1942, the Vietnam mod was pretty much the best IMO.. it had great guns and the helis were fun because they were hard to fly. Not as hard as DC but you could tell who could fly and who couldn't right off the bat. With all the great maps it had, I think it was the best mod.

anyone actually tried Project Reality? I really liked that one. The others well, I have mixed feelings about, the Project Reality mod was more along my liking.

Lets see a time line for you....

Bf1942 --Desert Combat to Forgotten Hope to DCX ...played them up until BF2 was released.

BFV-- POE...loved it but it took a long time to get a following since everyone was to busy bashing BFV.

BF2-- Operation Peace Keeper to POE2,.........Peace Keeper does not get the press, but it is excelent for a first release. POE raised the bar a little though and will be the measuring stick for all other mods to come, but Peace Keeper is still good.

i am a mod junky. i have most of the mods from bf42 still intalled, and many for bf2: allied intent, bf1918, bfa_skellymod, dcon, HardJustice, mercs, naw, opk, poe2, pr, sandbox, surreal, tacticalwar, usi, vrmini2.

i gotta say that HardJustice has to be the most fun imo, time and time again. it has a lot of replay value, especially as a coop mod. working together to beat huge waves of bots coming at you over and over. there are so many ways to take control and win the maps despite being outnumbered. and 1.4 can only make this mod better than it already is.:)

PoE is the best mod out there atm.

But hands down to Project Reality for actually changing the gameplay. Other mods still have this vBF2 feeling, but they are still f*cking awsome. I hope more mods decide to change the gameplay more then just adjusting accuracy (spelling?) of the guns.

POE 2 because of the changes in gameplay and maps. It feels like every gameplay complaint or idea I ever had has been made perfect. I hate the weapons in Operatoin Peacekeeper. In POE2 they are done perfect. I love the maps they all require teamwork. I like the AA in it. The vehicles are all balanced. I like the changes to the classes. The AT class should always have had mines.

I know what you mean, I 'ported' custom maps to DC and Silent Heroes, I also added ai and coop support, I did around 75 maps! "Road to Rome" by Tuut was my favourite custom map converted to DC, and "Argon Forest" was my favourite Silent Heroes conversion (APC's and infantry only), sadly less than 100 people even got to see them.

Best mods of all time would be DC, FH, Silent Heroes, especially with my hand picked and customised maps.

I think it's a bit soon to be evaluating the BF2 mods yet.

I would have to say PRMM because they have given a different experience to BF2. I play POE2, and enjoy how much content they have, and the amount of polish put into it.

I only like some of the maps, but a few are really good. The gameplay in POE2 seems the same as BF2, like a new EF or AF.

Hopefully some new MODs are goona give a whole new twist and feel to this engine, thats what I am waiting for. Pirates will deliver, and I am sure Apocalypse will also.

DCOn and Rising Conflicts are what I am really waiting for. They are both following the tradition of Desert Combat (to a certain extent).

Desert Combat was without a doubt my Favorite mod ever, its actually on its own list.

Heh. Agreed. Any mod right now that gives more than an estimate (like "WE'LL BE OUT ON DECEMBER 1st) is a bit silly, because things happen and we aren't professional developers (well, some of us are :p) and modding is a side project, not our jobs... making a full mod is a long term project. :p

I'd say BF Pirates 2 and FH2 are the ones i'm waiting for. The others are still really good, but they don't change much from BF2. You still get the Super Western side vs Crappy Soviet side in all or most mods so far. The guns are still the same-ish, assault rifles and carbines. It's all very samey, just BF2 with new guns (guns which are similair to BF2 guns) and vehicles (again, more or less the same)

I think Pirates and FH2 will be a real change from BF2, the first proper conversion mods. So i'm waiting for those 2 the most.

I've played other mods, but to me they're just BF2 with a new wrapper. Changing all the old boring BF2 models and sounds is fair enough, but you're still playing BF2. If BF2 was made with the POE2 storyline and factions and somebody released a "BF2 mod" adding PLA, MEC and USMC with the maps we all know and love, people would love that just as much as they love POE2!

Project Reality is different, the team aim to completely change the gameplay so it fits just like real life. Unlike BF2, you don't get your fun out of killing or winning points, you get it out of working as a team and really pushing BF2 to its limits. All those statics from BF2 that were never much use are now vital to your survival, you will find yourself hiding and listening to your superiors in order to get the most out of your game. Project Reality could be renamed to Project Teamplay, because these days the game is all about that!

Simply awesome. It s just a whole other catagorie. Teamwork, coordination, because on your own you will have a miserable time. It s an other kind of excitement, tension, if you screw up your dead. There s no running/ hopping away. It atracts a specific kind of players, not the kind that come bunnyhopping up to you with C4 in their hands so to say.
You just got to love it.

Its hard enough to find any server thats got a lot of players and you always end up having to wait for Fallen to come round and as there are a lot of maps most of which suck its gets quite annoying.

The more I think about it, I have two options here.

The first is DCON CTF. I love playing this gamemode because it reminds me of DC days. I hope the DCON team incorporates it inot thier own maps when released. The other Game Modes they have look like they are going to be the best alternate game modes of any mod yet, hands down.

The other, and many will disagree, is Battle Paint. I love this game, and the simplicity of it is great. I hope they develop this thing further, and more people join the servers. Its more fun than any of the serious mods out so far imo.

what did you think of the 16 player maps? they are infantry only (mostly) and much smaller in size.
