Hi Friends !
I hope everything is well !
I just finished downloading the COD4 Demo and my system config is as below -
Intel Core 2 Quad
2 GB Ram
Intel DG33FB Mo Board
XFX 8600 GTS 256 Mb
SB Audigy 4
I have installed Win XP Pro and Norton 2007.
My problem is that I'm not able to run the demo at a good performance and its really poor. I feel that I have a good gaming config but still its not running good. I have also updated all my drivers and utils.
Just wanted to request you kindly advice / guide me regarding this.
Thanks and REgards

It's your 8600, just because it's an 8 series doesn't mean it is a good card. I have read reviews saying that card is like a 7600 GT.

Hi Friends !
Sorry for the late reply -
I tried to play at a resolution of 1024 (with most on the settings set to high) and 2x antialising, but its too choppy (I guess very low frame rates) and so playing at any higher resolution is not possible atall... it works fine (ok like ) at 800 resolution. Should'nt I be able to play at atleast a 1024 resolution with my config ?
Is my Card really that bad ? I saved so much money to get it here and as Im from a small town here in India, I cant even sell it though its just a few days old...
Will increasing the RAM help ? I cant really upgrade the card again...kindly help me on what to do friends...
I have also updated the drivers to the latest.. should upgrading to a Beta Driver for the Graphics Card help ? Is something wrong with my processor - its a Quad - shouldnt it help run the game faster ?
You had asked me to post my Frame Rates and Clock Speed, but I dont know how to find that out.. please guide me friends - I really love Call Of Duty and the main reason for me to upgrade my PC was to play COD 4...
Kindly help and guide me...
Thanks a lot of helping and taking the time...
Regards
Kush

Toms hardware places it just above a 7900 GS http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html
I have one of those, and also see poor performance in the demo, even though I am able to run BF2142 with quite good settings.
People with 7600 cards claim to get good performance, so I think there must be something unoptimized in the demo.

your 8600 aint no good tbh stop norton from running while playing games get window updates, disc clean up, defrag, scan for spyware/virus's have you got the driver to sort out the power sharing for multicore cpu's?.
i have a dualcore 4400@2.5ghz w/ a 320meg 8800gts and 1440x900@75hz 2ms and i can play it on max setting on everything, and runs smooth as siht off a shovel. whats you quad core running @ 1.8ghz?
ps Norton takes a lot of resources uninstall it, get AVG free anti virus and if you are not behind a hardware firewall get Zone alarm free firewall.

Hi there !
Thanks for the help and for the advice...
My Quad is q6600 2.4 Ghz - is it good enough atleast ? I really didnt have an idea about these things and I guess I just hastily bought the stuff....
Just wanted to request you to kindly advice on fro where can I get this driver to sort out the power sharing for multicore cpu's? I think I'm also having a few power issues, as I often get an error that Processor Vccp for one of the processors is out of recommended range...
Kindly advice/ guide me on from where can I get this driver ? From Intel's website ?
Thanks again for helping...

Kush
