The very first modification for the demo of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has now been released! This mod, created by KnifeInFace, converts the original Marine MARPAT camo to the US Army's ACUPAT. You can see a pictures of the mod below and can download it right here (http://totalgaming.filecloud.com/files/file.php?user_file_id=610699). Thanks to PlanetCallofDuty (http://planetcallofduty.gamespy.com/) for the news.

You can't have any altered skins/weapons on "pure" servers. PB doesn't really matter.

Spawn, you know, if you're going to post every modification, map, etc. You, or somebody else, will be very busy. The Call of Duty series is much more mod friendly, than say, the Battlefield's.
*sigh* Someone want to fill me in?
Convert from *.IWI to a format openable by your image editor. If not, to a .dds file. Then either have a .dds plug-in or use a .dds converter to convert it to another format. Then open that with your editor, edit. Convert to IWI. Using a hex editor, change the IWI from version 5 to 6. And they're Infinity Ward Images, not Ignite Web Images.
Those are the steps for now. As there are no tools released yet, as the game isn't out yet. I'm hoping, however, that there is a very simple tool that IW releases for skinning.

Well, at least we know the game will be easily modifiable (hopefully).

Great mod! Wonder if maybe, a Ranger scroll could miraculously appear on their left sleeves in another version of this mod?

Yes, which is why the note on the mod says this:
"This mod, created by KnifeInFace, converts the original Marine MARPAT camo to the US Army's ACUPAT."

Ya I get that but why have Army camo for Marines..this makes no sense.

I think the idea is that you can change the camo to Army, to imagine playing as Army troops instead of Marines. Same as doing an all-black camo/BDU to simulate playing the mission as SAS.

Point taken. Thank you for clarifying that for me.:salute:

Both the MARPAT and the cut of the Marines' combat jackets are much more favored than the Army's ACU jacket. A lot of skeptics hold that the Army was only trying to get on the digital camo bandwagon with the ACU.

Of course not, they designed it because they liked the colors.

Any chance we can see a version for the full game? Also, is it possible to only change the textures on certain models, so that you can still have the Marines (in Des. Marpat) and Army (in ACU)?

seems kind of like that. if i recall right hte army was going to use a gray/neutral colored block pattern for Objective Force Warrior. I guess when the Marines adapted MARPAT it made them decide to get more serious about it.
Multicam is supposed to replace the ACU in a few years anyways. that is unless they change that. supposedly its being used by SF currently.

I'm using the skin for the full game and I've noticed one problem. The boots need to be the color tan and not the ACU/grey color. Also, care to share what program you used and what steps it took for you you to create this? I would like to know so that I can do some editing myself.
