I accidently captured this screenshot long ago, look at my FPS plus I think I only had 1 gig of ram, ignore the convo, nothing interesting

http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/3158/screenshot0001cy7.png

now look at here, just captured it a minute ago, Im alone in the server and I have 2 gigs of ram at the moment, compare the frame rates, if I start moving it will go down to 40s

anyone elses fps dropped down by alot?

Yep the 1.3 patch/SF patch screwed my FPS. I used to run 1280x1024 4xAA/4xAF everything on Highest with constant 50+ FPS. Now im down to 1280x1024 2xAA/4xAF Everything medium except geometries which is at high. FPS often dips below the 30's and usually averages about 30~40.

But the fact that the second screenshot has exactly 60FPS makes me think you might have V-Sync on?

My specs:
AMD 64+ 3200 Venice @ 2.4Ghz (3800+ Speeds)
1.5GB DDR400 Kingston
200GB IDE Seagate
256MB Gigabyte 6800 GS @ 485/1100 (Stock: 425/1000)
MSI K8N Neo 4F.

yeah, check your vsync.

But the patch when SF came out killed my FPS too

When I did a reformat about 2 months ago and I installed bf2 it ran SO smooth and maxed out my fps to like 90ish, now I get about 40 MAYBE 50 if there is an average high latency.

****ty :hmm:

hmmm,

on my configuration below, i have not high fps on 1152/865 all high 4xAA, and when i bought SF was worse :(. probably its 1.3 fault but i dont know.

i think my processor is too weak for this game

but i saw some tests on worse configurations and there was better fps than mine :(, so when i bought my parts, i was little dissapointed couse i expected very smooth gaming, damn

i use to be able to play medium textures/effects with some lag but still somewhat smooth but then afterwards..it got too stuttery so i had to go on all low :(

Feel Lucky, running a 3.2 with a gig of ram and a 9800pro....getting between 9 and 15 fps. Its like watching a slide show.

Kenny, you really should be getting around 30fps with a 9800. Try defragging. Your fps sounds too low for that setup.

edit: as long as you run on low...the 9800 can run low with view distance and geometry at 100% with decent fps

I start out at around 30-40, then it just drops down to less than 15. I swear its like I got a program running in the background but as far as I know I have everything shut down. I even got a spyware program (spyware Doctor) just to see if I had something bad causing me problems, But even with a clean puter getting crappy fps.

Every patch has dropped FPS a bit since 1.01. This patch is just as bad as 1.3: Laggy, stuttery, and low FPS, compared to butter-smooth original bf2.

The bf2 engine is just too f*cked up to handle it, on top of the crappy patches that are released.

You don't know how bad and laggy it is for us with low end systems.

FPS hasn't changed much for me.
All the delays when changing stance makes me feel like I'm lagging though.

The only way i will believe what FPS you are getting is if you post that same screenshot using Fraps. Make sure to have it set to 'Include framerate overlay on screenshots' checked in the control panel.

Well the 1.4 patch didn't really do much to my FPS at all. Jallalalalalalalalalalabad runs like absolute crap, <30FPS pretty much the whole time.

i'm getting weird keyboard delay, the effect is like i'm sliding on ice (after i stop pressing key, i'm still moving, sometimes in opposite direction)

the new map is laggier than other maps too

Yup, I used to be able to play 1.00 on Med/High, I could even play the demo on High (with long loading times). 1.3 killed my FPS I can barely play vBF2 on medium, If I want to play Warlord (SF) I have to go on low.

So I gave up with vBF2 and SF (Dice products) Instead I can play PoE2 pretty much on medium.

The patches regularly change my video settings as well, you might want to check to make sure your setup is the way you like it.

I have noticed a steady decline in FPS every patch, even after I've reduced shadows and dynamic lighting (which has always been the source of my lag woes in BF2...excluding PB).

The fact 2142 is running on the same engine has me scared out of my wits with how laggy things may be at release.

Another gig of RAM may help. I was running a P4, 768MB RAM with a 9800 PRO (128MB) with geomatry on high and everything on low (except view distance, I always have that at 100%). When I upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM I was able to run everything on all medium with geomatry still on high. My Avarage framerate was 45fps (that was before "the overclock").

So, it's most likely not your card, unless it's running really hot. Mine was running very hot, so I got one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835119064 and all of my games ran better just with the card being cooled better!

Post 1.3 I noticed a significant reduction in fps, so to keep the game from dipping below 30fps when things get busy, I reduced my dynamic lighting and dynamic shadows from high to medium. I'm running a 6800GT @410/1100 1280x1024@70hz x2FSAA. I've tried deleting the Bf2 textures, different drivers, different driver settings, reinstalling the game, defragging etc, all made no difference. Tbh it's difficult to tell the difference between the above options on high and medium, so it was no big deal. I've not tried 1.4 yet, so I hope there's no more reduction in fps, then it will be a big deal...

Were do you enter this information to unlock the higher framerates.
I am running a
Core 2 Duo @ 2.8 GHZ using 2 Gigs or DDR@800 and a 7950GX2 Video card and my framerates are just pegged at 100 FPS.

When running a benchmark in Fraps it averages 99.7 or so.
I know I can see more framerate if they are available.

I am running my game at 2048 x 1024 resolution with all setting maxed out and 4XAA. I honestly think your edges looked jagged on the AA end when looking at the outline of the chopper.

dude, the game is capped to 100 fps, just open the console with the ~ key and write:

game.lockfps 0

the numbers will be a lot higher now.

Blitz-UoS-
09-07-2006, 08:03 PM
I knew the framerates were locked at 100

But thanks for the how to information it is appreciated.
