I logged onto my Bf2 after updating to version 1.4 and guess what. Its says I have a permanent BAN (my GUID is permanenetly banned by Punkbuster).

I submited a support request to Evenbalance and this it what they said.

Note #2: The GUID you supplied was logged using a cheat that tried to prevent
detection by PB. The method used is considered by us to interfere with
the way PB is designed to work, therefore violating our EULA.

If you were not cheating, then someone was either using your computer
or your CD key and was caught.

Either way, your GUID was used to try to hack on PB servers and it is
now permanently banned. You may still play on non-PB servers as our
bans only apply to servers with PunkBuster enabled.

I have been playing since the game was released, and now I cant.
I play very seldom, mainly weekends, so when I play I enjoy it fully, dispite the crashes and new patches messing things up.

There is no way to prove my innocence... I guess I will have to give up Bf2 now... which is a pity.

Stats say nothing a person being a cheater or not. But if I where you I would at least investigate in what the problem could be, since it will ban you on more PB games when it's not a BF2 hack but something else as you said.

Hi

I have BF2:SF (special Forces) as well :) I think thats where the extra unlocks come from.

All i can think of is someone has my CD key and got me banned.

EvenBalance say if I get a new copy of BF2 that will work fine, so hopefully my other games will be ok.

Its a pity that punkbuster doesnt log your ip and system specs etc so you can prove it wasnt your pc that was running the cheats :)

punkbuster is one of the MAIN reasons that make its game bad. it lags the gam, it catches cheaters who dont cheat. and its a PAIN in teh bum (lol) for updating it and nubs dont know how to!!

as far as I know I have been banned by EvenBalance and not directly by punkbuster.

:(

Maybe I will just wait for BF2142.... but that might be rubbish. but then again who knows :)

GUID is what we all have. Its like a punkbuster ID.

If you cheat etc that is what they ban, then you get a nice popup to say you been banned when you join a server.

I have been able to play on a few servers and also a few POE servers, so I can still play.

Whether that means Punkbuster is disabled on that server, and I playing wth cheaters and hackers and getting owned.. oh well.... :(

Guess I should just bite the bullet and buy a new copy of BF2, I really love the game, it runs like a pig on my system though.. all settings on low

Well, my bro plays this and tks like crazy every match, i ask him why but he never answers...One point i had emails from several ppl emailing me about how i should stop tkin and dont join there servers...I told him if i see a single more tk on his record ill shoot him myself...he doesnt play anymore due to this story being 3 years old...owell... i guess it happens to the best of us.
