View Full Version : Gain that extra repair point!

If you've played engi enough you will often find that when repairing a destroyed asset, it is a bees **** short of 1 repair point. Literally one more wrench of the spanner will give you the point, but the asset is fully repaired and you can do nothing about it, right?

Of course not! Take matters into your own hands - repair points are hard enough to earn as it is...

Anyhow, the trick is very simple - lob a nade at the asset you just repaired. You won't get any team damage or anything, so don't worry. It will damage the asset ever so slightly, but it is often enough to earn you that extra repair point!

Using common sense, you can tell when to use this trick, or when to save the nades for other purposes (killing ;) ). For example, if you just repaired two destroyed arty guns but only got 1 point, then it's a good idea to try it. But if you've already received a point after repairing one asset, it's probably not a good idea to waste a nade on one. ;)

Basically, try it when you get 0 points for one repaired asset, 1 point for 2 repaired assets, or 2 points for 3 repaired assets, etc etc. 1 point might not sound like much to some, but if I just spent the last 2 minutes wrenching away, I want some goddamn reward for my effort thank you very much. :p

You can do the same thing slightly bumping tanks with a LAV and gain a few extra points rolling down the road. Tankies dont mind that extra bump or shove... you are after all very eager to roll into battle arent ya?

Just dont do it while they are firing.

Don't even use a nade...here is my input:

-When you're wrenching don't let it go down to empty.
-Wrench 2 bars of your wrench and let it fill back up.
-Doing this should, and I emphasize should, net you 2 repair points but 1 guaranteed depending on how blown up the asset is. (if a spec ops uses 3 c4 it actually take longer wrenching to get back to functional and that should give you 2 repair points).
-Easiest way to get repair points is to hop in a vehicle, sure it doesn't get you the 2 repair points but it's FAST.
-For those kiddies wanting to earn their repair badges, pick maps that have assets easily accessible by your enemy and are close by to repair (Warlord being THE easiest).
-Inform your commander that you'll repair assets and to save the supply boxes.

If the stupid commander insists on dropping supply next to your stuff, nade it just before it touches down. A few nades and boxes later, your commander will quit trying to feed enemy spec ops with that box.

That is 100% spot on, but some commanders aren't that bright  . But you're right, nade the box before it takes your repair point from you and feeds spec ops guys more c4.

I tend to be in a jeep when an Engi, so I just ram the boxes or get in the gunner seat when I see them coming.

This is a great tip though, I had not thought of the nade thing. I will have to use that if it comes down to it. Sucks to get the Expert Repair :(

I play it a lot when I'm on Kark (vehicle wh*re, I admit it. Better to have me wh*ring it then letting it go to waste though and get taken by some spec ops)

I also repair the assets a lot so I will use this. Thanks m8.
