18 min long. I had about 30-40 FPS the whole time, went 45-0.



I got a little bit of everything in there, J-10 ownage + baserape.



I tried to keep it as average as possible.

This was only me in the game, if nismo was in the other jet, I would probably be 60-0 :D. This was also the 2nd round I played (1st round I didn't get jet in the beginning).


Enough excuses, just watch it!


This was about exactly what I was doing in Moders when I got banned.. same score and everything.

Next time do one on a map with more even air to air so your not spending 75% of the time making sure no J-10s dont get airborne. Then you can focus on ground targets while dogfighting only when needed.

Ah man nice video. I fly almost exactly like that, but the number one cause of death in an airplane is greed. Ive got a little bit of a problem with that in this game.

I also engage other jets differently. Straight up missles (that are lead) bitches. And I dont wait till I get close for cannons. Ill get em from a mile away with em.

Great video! But why do you use two bomb drops? I can tell you use cannons on everything, but there is a REALLY good way of getting a one bomb drop without rearming for one, then dropping it, then rearming again etc etc. What you do is drop one bomb, then interrupt the dropping of the other bomb by switching to missles. After you drop them seperately by doing this, every two bombs you collect will drop one by one.

Course I cant actually see any ATS skill here (although I know it is there) because F35s on Wake dont get too much action on that front. Not enough armor really. All you get is IGLAs, and jeeps. But god damn the ATA is insane. Evading that J10! Jesus, that was something.

I personally get REALLY REALLY bored raping over and over. The constant adaptation in a dogfight, even when met with impossible odds (F35 to J10), is extremely fun. I would rather go 36 and 0 and keep the J10s up the whole time, so I can dogfight with them.

if you didn't already know, if you get out of cockpit view, and go full screen or whatever, it zooms in.

I don't really know.. when I am gunning people on the ground or if I know I will be flying low, I keep cockpit view on cause I can judge where the bottom of the jet is easier.

That, plus it's habit.

Personally, I don't enjoy air to air combat. I primarilly enjoy helping the team try to cap flags and defend flags as best as I can (not to say that you don't). However, if there is an opposing pilot who is creating havoc, I'll try to take him/her down.

I try to keep all airpower down, because I figure, if there are no J-10's, and Z-10's, our team should be smart enough (most of the time, they aren't and just wait for the jet.. that I am in.) to take the BH's and just fly to land.

The only thing I wasn't taking out that round, was tanks, only because, honestly I only saw a couple..

So other than that.. all they have to worry about is AA... but they are in a BH... they can withstand probably 4 hits, + they have flares..


So the way I see it, I was helping the team alot by keeping airpower down, plus when I get kills, it takes away the other teams tickets, and by me not dying, we don't lose as many tickets, PLUS I raise the average of our teams score, giving the commander a higher avg.

As for the ATA combat, i only saw one really good opportunity by the Chinese, and they finished every manuever with straight and level flight. What did they think was going to happen?

Good flying and overall technique though. You use speed altitude very well, and maximize every aspect of the planes capabilities. I can see where the scores come from.

There is no doubt that air superiority is the key to victory in any air power map.

One thing that has been answered in a previous thread is how to get above 700 feet in altitude without losing control but honestly, I still don't get it...could you possibly shed some light on the subject? Mind sharing your joystick in game settings (sensitivity, yaw, pitch)?

To spot with the joystick, you need to DL Joy2Key. That way you can map the POV trigger to the radial commands, and the trigger to mouse 1 but ONLY when the radial menu is up.

And I want to fly with you metallic, I like the f35, but the j-10 just keeps me down a lot. I think with another decent (exceptional is your case) pilot, I could do just as well as any of the experts. If you want, join our server 72.232.68.74, it's usually full later at night, and it's mostly air+city everyother map.

I was expecting the typical showcase/music type of movie, I'm glad this was just a raw gameplay video.

Very impressive stuff, granted some will complain it was just spawn rape, but from a tactical point of view, you were serving the map up to your team on a silver platter.

I will say this, your time in the air is evident, and your skill with the guns is exceptional. I don’t believe I’ve seen such a steady shot in a while. you were definitely on the ball that round. I like your approach pattern on the j-10’s high and to the rear and the great thing is you didn’t get greedy either you damaged him/them went high and came back down when they were trying to repair and to top it all off you kept them suppressed for quite some time. I do believe it would have been a different story if wake have a mobile AA unit. I consider myself an alright pilot but this is what separates me from you, its all in your timing and your accuracy. And to you all saying that was base raping who the hell cares anyway it wasn’t an uncap anyhow. Also if there dumb enough to wait on the tarmac he keeps bombing well then there a little Dee-De-Dee and deserve to be bombed.

Yes I know but its also extremely boring and predictable if your a good pilot. If you keep the J10 on the ground you win. Period. As challenging as that is its also really boring to watch.

I would rather he do a jet video on a map that actually has even balance as far as jets go so he can show people how to use a jet effectively in normal situations with ground AA tanks and all. So he can hit ground targets and pick up on aircraft when he needs to instead of having to constantly rape the runway to keep the almighty J10 grounded.

Im not saying its a bad video im just saying its extremely obvious that the objective of every F35 pilot on Wake should be to rape that runway all map long. Why waste 10 minutes of video on that? This may have helped new pilots I guess but theres really nothing new here, just some wicked F35 skills.

Next video do some all around Jet usage and you'll get a big thumbs up from me and im sure it will help a lot of people.

I haven't seen the video but FFS people don't flame Metallica for camping the J-10 spawn.

For those who aren't aware the J-10 is virtually unstoppable once it gets in the air with a decent pilot while the F-35B is nothing more than a A2A missile sponge. Therefore on a map like Wake 2007 where the J-10 funtionality/pilots decide who win the round it's in a teams best interest (and in an F-35B pilots best interest) to keep the enemy J-10s grounded the entire game. As far as I'm concerned on USMC you are at maximum usefulness if you spend the whole round doing nothing but camping the J-10 pilots.

On a related note I'm going to be putting up a J-10 video (I haven't been able to get around to it) of me going 100+ kills and 0 deaths in a little over 10 minutes. Which is exactly why you want to fly exactly like Metallica on USMC Wake 2007.

I agree, it's not fair to flame the pilot for doing his job against the odds. It's a skilful video showing what the US pretty much has to do on Wake just to keep an even footing. Nevertheless, it's still a baserape fest of the highest order and I still wonder how this is considered "good fun" gaming, even for the pilot...

Anyway, I think the biggest message this video gives, is just what a sorry state the whole jet to jet (F35 vs J-10) and jet to ground aspect of BF2 is in when tactics like these are required simply to compete... It's kind of a shame that this thread was moved to the media forum since I kind of hope it gets as much publicity as possible in the hope that some DICE employee stumbles upon it.

Not only does it show the sham that is Wake Island in its full glory, but it also clearly demonstrates that S2A sites are completely ineffective in their current form. Anyone (e.g. zippOr) who argues to the contrary need only watch this video. And before anyone chimes in with the "he's (metallica) one so the best pilots out there" chat, consider what still happens to the best tankers and the best infantry players too.

Other than that, well done metallica for nailing the J-10s good and proper and showing what being an excellent pilot really is all about in BF2. :)

I just figured out what I was going wrong. Every time I fly, I fly low. I'm afriad to go over 600 due to losing control. I'll have to try that next time. Stay at high alttitudes, then swoop down on enemy jets.

Though I enjoyed the video do to its raw gameplay, I think next time u can get your point across by frapsing a series of rounds, then compiling all your tips/tricks and whoha. Maybe it wont be 118 mbs either.

No cause there is a max speed the jet will roll, so it doesn't matter.

Metallica - do you use logitech's profiler software for your joystick and if you do please post some screenshots of your settings. Your joystick seems to be much less jittery than mine and Ive tweaked my settings and use a 3d pro also.

I have a few replies without quotes.

As for only showing bits instead of one straight video, the viewers have to get re-oriented for each shot, and it wouldn't be as educational. One shot makes the most sense.

I'm kinda glad it was moved to media. It's the only section I look at, except for checking the RSS when I'm bored.

Actually... I've been shot down like 5 times by AA since 1.4, cause they improved the range + strength.



They are alot better, because, if you see, I shoot at AA's that are empty just because I have a feeling someone is being sneaky... etc...

Well now, the beach AA reaches all the way out past the airfield, and flares will only work if you deploy them BEFORE they get a lock on you. If they lock on to you, they will hit you regardless..

AA is now at the point, where if you see a smoking jet, and you get a lock, he is GOING to die.



And that is a good thing IMO...

Have you not noticed the new and improved AA? If you haven't... get into a jet and just fly around.. see what happens.
