GameSpy (http://www.gamespy.com/) has posted up a brief preview article today discussing Frontlines: Fuel of War. Take a look:
The focus of the game's single-player and multiplayer campaigns is the actual frontline of a battle, represented by key objectives throughout the huge maps. Objectives might be to seize a gate, or to blow up a tower with carefully placed artillery strikes. They serve a few purposes, directing you forward in a meaningful fashion; keeping the fighting focused in a more meaningful way than just flags to capture in multiplayer; and timing your upgrades.
In our demo, we were trying to penetrate the first part of the Red Star faction's base. To do so, we had to destroy two control towers. Impressively fortified, we saw our demoer lead his AI squadmates to establish a beachhead in front of the defended towers. From there, he had to get past a sealed gate to press the attack. In single-player, kits are weapons that you can pick up. We saw our demoer get the first-tier drone, a simple military-style RC plane. He sent it into the enemy's gate control room, the small plane slipping past defenders, and detonated it by their control board, sending the gate crashing open.
