For all those with a FilePlanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/) subscription out there, they have released today a subscriber only beta for the highly anticipated Front Lines Fuel Of War. They say that availability is extremely limited so be sure to head over there as soon as possible to sign up!

Nope just THQ/FP trying to rape as much money out of you as possible... Although it may just be FilePlanet as they did it with Crytek also... Still an awesome looking game though, bit daft how they are at beta and don't have any system spec yet :P

Actually, we do. Just in flux as we go through beta. There are system requirements on the Fileplanet beta page.

We're not trying to "rape" anyone for money. Fileplanet has a lot of resources that make sense for developers to work with them. Here is what I posted on Frontlines Warfare on the same subject:

It is correct that Fileplanet offers a lot of resources that a game developer may need.

Even though we're backed by THQ our resources are not endless and of course this is the first game we're publishing so there is some caution in where the money goes.

Fileplanet offers hosting and forums that can handle a LOT more people than we could. Our IT guy would be spending all his time keeping the forums and download servers running instead of the game servers... and we'd rather see those up! :yay:

The trade-off is that for a relatively short time (more on that soon) they ask for an exclusive.

Frankly, I have been a gaming professional for ony a few months. I worked for IGN before that but I didn't get a Fileplanet account or anything.

If I wanted to play a game in closed beta, I dropped the price I would pay for a movie with snacks and got three months access to high-speed servers and exclusive betas and demos. I'd download every game I had wanted to check out and I didn't feel ripped off for what I got.

Sorry, but I didn't buy into the whole "whoreplanet" thing then and no one is paying me to promote them now. I don't work for them but I think they do a good job and if I thought they were ripping people off I wouldn't have worked for them (it wasn't my day job btw).

Anyway, your mileage may vary.

I hope this doesn't turn you off on the game but it really is the best solution with the resources we have available. This arrangement lets us focus more energy into making a great game and that has got to be our priority.

Thanks for reading (if I haven't put you to sleep) and hope to see you on the frontlines soon! :salute:

Ah, so it was FilePlanet all along... I suspected as much!

lol well I ain't gonna hold it against you :D I never get a subscription because:

1: I hardly ever buy games, last game I bought was BF2. I only buy games if they truely stand out, like Frontlines and Crysis.

and 2: I just don't need it... lol I never really find myself downloading from FP so the only thing I would be paying for is betas which I personaly don't agree in paying for as its a payed job for specialists.

But I'm still looking forward to this game :D need more screenshots!

Thanks all,
This is a Great FFOW Day,
I cant wait,
45 minutes!

ETQW, now FFOW and Crysis!
Sure beats last year in PC gaming that for sure!

Lets hope, you will get most of the bugs/glitches out like ETQW before release!

Keep it up Kaos!

PS-

If you guys read this,
Please, I want to pre-order the FFOW on "Steam" before Christmas!

id just started offering their games on it, except Quake 4:( , bummer I have two copies of Quake 4 discs, I cant throw away, 500+ discs litter my house!

***
Also, if a person purchase a your game from walmart, best buy(discs) etc,
Let them activate on steam, too!
like the Prey series!
***

With Steam you games are always installed and ready to go, I reformat twice a year, installing all the disc back, sux!

For example,
*Many people Purchased Call of Duty series(disc), like me, play the hell out of it, now with scratches on the disc .I cant install it with sound!
No Activation on steam from store bought copies, as of yet for COD's!
Check the Big/Huge Sticky thread under COD series on the Steam forums 'No Activation" for the ticked off customers!

*Far Cry, I have a similiar problem as COD the straches on one disc out of 6!

*Also, I bought Medal of Honor Pacific --something,
I not sure of the name,
because the disc 1 cracked and I never even played the game except for the demo!

Death to Discs, please support!

Well this is a nice surprise. I have a FilePlanet account because I wanted to get in to 2 other betas (CoH: OF and Crysis), and now I'm in another. I suppose that's all I can say because of the NDA.
