Enemy Territory: Quake Wars or Crysis.
Crysis said to be released q4 2006 in US, and q1 2007 in EU - while ET:QW is delaying it over to 2007

I hope Quake Wars... this way I have more time to save up for a new PC, cos Crysis is gonna need a powerful PC :D

True, but I think Crysis looks better and will need a lot more, my PC now should be able to handle ET :)

The preformance of Crysis is supposed to be increased by about 5-10% if you're running a dual-core processor, and another 10-15% if you're running a 64-bit processor. So personally, I'm looking an the AM2 architecture for my next comp... The parts I really want to go with aren't available yet, but so far my wish list contains:
-AMD Athlon 64X2 4200 Skt AM2
-ASUS M2N-E Skt AM2
-GeForce 7950 GX2
-4GB Kingston DDR2 5300
-Haven't picked HD's yet... prolly go with dual SATA2's. :)
-Windows Vista and DX10 of course.
EDIT: Don't know where I'm going to come up with the money for all this... :P

the current 7950 dont support dx(10), so you will have to choose some othere card

Same here, I'm already saving my pennies.
Could you or anyone else recommend a video card for Crysis?
;)

Also, same here. I stopped going out to eat lunch so I could start saving money to buy a new DX10/G80 video card when they arrive.

It really depends on your monitor
I think Crysis but who knows..
Gonna have to wait till DX10 cards come out. Once they do thats when your going to want to build a new system.

I gotta agree. Its gonna be time to upgrade my old agp videocard with the new dx10 pcie card, and the list go on and on. Its gonna be expensive.

All resent Dual Core processors are already 64-bit (like mine D930)
So people with Dual COre are already gonna get a big improve in performance.

If ur waiting now u might as well wait for DX10.
IF ur already bought a good GPU like i did in the last months = don't worry, u will be ok.
I hope the better one comes first =D At this rate I think that will be Crysis. I just hope they dont go overboard with all the unique things they throw in. Its hard to create competitions around overly complex games.

People the fact that we are bitching about PC's that can run Bf2 High and are DX9 shows how spioled we are.
Most gamers still play with PC's that will be simply owned by our old PC's.
CS S for example, role playing games (no not Oblivion). If u have a system which can run BF2 High be happy, u have a ubermachine. There will always be improvements, so what? doesnt mean the older stuff is immidiatelly crap.
I say this because i notice this on alot of forums concerning BF2.
For example = lots of people said to me when i posted my specs = u need a 500 WATT PSU, well my 300 WATT is running fine.
Piont being = don't worry developers won't forget which PC's the sub-elite has, let alone the mass-population.

You know I wasn't even aware Crysis was going to be released in November. I can almost certainly say it will be pushed back but I don't know, I'm just saying that because EA is their publisher. Anywhoo I'm super phyked for this game, not as much as I was for BF2, but pretty close.
Also, if anyone here is considering changing up their graphics card when they already have a decent one, don't ******** youself, the most important upgrade you can do before crysis is a dual core CPU, trust me.

no point in choising ur parts until the new DX10 cards from Nvidia and ATi come out. also not to be insulting but u clearly do not know as much about computers as u think. when u say u are looking at AM2 because you want a 64bit dual core CPU, u need to realize all of intels New CORE 2 Duo CPUs are all 64bit too, and frankly kick the crap out of anything amd has to offer. when the game comes out i recomend you post on a NONgaming computer forum because people there tend to know ALOT more about computers than say on the TotalBf2.com forum. BTW look at less but faster RAM that ram would bottleneck the system.
unless u plan on extreme overclocking your parts should be priced like 20% money for CPU 40% GPU and 10-20% for RAM. not wat u have which is like 10%-30%-50%.

I am probally going to build another rig for this game. This time with SLI though, I am going to spend big bucks but this game looks so sweet I want it to look like the screen shots.

I'm leaning towards crysis, they said it would make it out this year unless MS convinces them to wait for vista launch.

Don't they have to becasue of DX10 being released with Vista?

they don't have to wait, Crysis works fine on the DX9 path, plus, by the time it comes out there will be an extended version of DirectX 9 that simulates DX10 effects and rendering paths, it's not as good but for the people who invested in a new GPU now instead of later, better for you. And by the time Vista releases (which will be close to sumemr of 2007) Crysis will be advertised as the premier launch game mainly because it will be a new refresher to any veteran crysis players wishing to run it with a DX10 card and vista.

First of all = all that u have seen of Crysis so far was made with DX9, the developers already confirmed this.
2nd = too the guy who is gonna buy 4 GB RAm. Dude 2 GB RAM is already more than enough for Aero in Vista+Crysis.
3rd of all = Current Pentium D 9xx series, AMD2 and Core 2 Duo are all 64-bit and are all very powerfull and more than enough.
Don't get hyped up because there is a improvement. From P4 to Core 2 is long butt a big step like from P3 to P4.
Anyone know when the DX10 cards are going to be available?
:)
Supposedly the G8xxx series from Nvidia, which supports DX10, will be out between late September and October. ATI's answer should be released sometime soon after that, most likely Nov / Dec. However, in order to actually RUN DX10, you still need to buy Vista, which wont be released until Jan-Feb of 2007 at the earliest. In addition to this, as far as I know all of the Crysis ingame footage has been on DX9, so I can't wait to see what DX10 does for the game.
Honestly, I think the best upgrade path right now for new computer builders is get yourself a dualcore 64bit CPU, a solid video card like a X1900XT/X or 7900GT/X and enjoy Crysis on DX9 until Vista is known to be stable and at least 95% bug free. By then you'll have a wide assortment of DX10 cards available and there will be less price gouging from manufacturers as well.
I can't wait for Crysis. I don't think I've been so excited for a game since the original HL was released and the first Beta of Counter-Strike followed it. If there is ever going to be a game that will end my addiction to CS, this is it.

Well as many have said Crysis needs DX10 which will be released with Vista, well Vista isn't coming out till 2007, So why would they release Crysis in 2006?

It doesn't need DX10 to run. It runs fine on DX9, it will just offer up more eye candy and perhaps some other added features when DX10 is released. :)
