I was just thinking, is this game going to have a built in map editor? I know in the console version of Far Cry: Instincts you could and that really made the game better. With the interactivity of the game it would be a great bonus. What do you guys think?
It would be a great idea to make an editor and because they have one for Far Cry they maybe also make one for Crysis, who knowsss.

I am hoping they will take there time with this game, it really is a huge step forward in graphics. Remember 6 years ago what MoHAA looked like? Now imagine 6 years from now what things will look like. Wow.
Maybe they will give us a demo before the release so we can test it out on our systems and give them feedback, like the BF2 betas.

I do not think they will but who knows.
BF2 is know for bugs and that was going to hurt 2142 sales so thats why I think they are doing the beta to make a better game and build faith in the 2142 community.
FarCry however, has a huge following and a good reputation, not one for bugs so I do not think they will do a BETA.

A demo is something to look foward to. A demo will be able to show you if you can handel it, I wonder... imagine a 3 GB demo, those good graphics have to count for something.
They should release with a map editor becuase it would making mod easier plus mods make a game last longer.

Sandbox 2 will be shipped with Crysis. Crysis-HQ posted some german videos a while back which showed sanbox 2. It looks amazing.

I wonder how they will make the server download thingy work, like how CSS is.

Are you saying it's gonna have it like in CSS, where when you join a server with a custom map, the game opens a small download manager to download it? That would be an interesting idea for small mods etc...

Indeed, like in CS or CoD, I hate it to join a server and it is saying: you don't got the right map. -_-

Takes forever, that's what's bad :hmm:

Meh, and old mod for HL1 called The Specialist, it used to take some maps to download off a server 45 minutes or more. Honestly I could wait, if not, go online and find the map, at least when the mod still had a large base of support for skins, maps, and plugins. That seems to all but disappeared in the last year.
But yeah it can be a boner killer to have to wait via server speed to download a map, that you could snag on some site in 1/6th the time.

That's exactly what bothers me most. I can get something that takes me 35 mins to d/l ingame in about 2 mins or less in a site mirror. Still, who knows, Crysis is introducing some kickass graphics, who says they won't change the way we look at this particular system?

In CoD you needed only 2min for a map, so there it wasn't a problem.

Ya thats what I meant but how are they going to impliment it? Like sof2 had the same thing as css but it took ages for it to download but they did something diffrent in css that made it fast.

Yeah, as I said above, it takes forever for me too... I guess it happens in all games with this feature. Who knows if it's better, after all, Crysis is going to raise the bar for everyone :D

There will be a editor.
Far Cry was famous for its modding abilities and Crysis will be no different. Incorporated into the game is a new version of Crytek’s level editor, Sandbox 2. It’s the same tool the team is using to make the game, and allows modders to change just about anything.
‘We have already selected two [community] teams that are working on mods with us, giving us feedback on how to improve the editor,’ says Diemer. ‘New features include a graphic scripting tool, a character editor and a tool to make in-game sequences.’ That last addition should make in-game cinematics much easier for modders, and of course, machinima fans will welcome the news.

Do you think we will be able to create large (or even small) town maps? Because that would be nice to play on with such great physic and graphics

With the editor, I suppose you will be able to edit maps to any size and terrain of your liking...
Im hoping they include weather effects for the editor too :D
