View Full Version : I predict Crysis will not sell well.
Smash-Crunch

Consider the following, crysis is too graphic intense for Xbox360, and PS3,
PS3 costs around $600 for the best model.
Xbox360 around $250.
My video card cost me $200, and it runs BF2 on the lowest settings with an average FPS of 30.
The only people that will be able to play this game are those with the best computers, or enough money to buy the computers, this will lead to low sales, increased prices for each unit because the companies expectations were higher in total sold, and even less buying.
I know I'll never be able to play this game, because I know my computer would explode with the strain of calculating and conveying on-screen how the leaves would move as my bullets hit them. So I'm not buying it, and even if I did buy it, I can't play it, and I don't think I'm the only one not buying it.

no offence smash crunch, but that's a pretty ignorant thing to say. Don't you think crytek will have thought about an option to lower the graphical settings? Sort of like, oh i don't know, every other single pc game in existence. Call of duty 2 was very graphically intense, Infinity Ward realised that not everyone has extremely good gamer PC's, so they made an option to render the game in a lower directX version, problem solved. Nobody's forcing you to play the game with all the bells and whistles turned on. Plus, I know a hell of a lot of people willing to upgrade just for this game, just like they did for Doom 3, HL2, etc.

Indeed....I think this game will sell well based on the HUGE following it has going already (like people who joined up to TotalCrysis ;) )
I'm betting the game will scale somewhat....but also, depending on when this game comes out, we may see the next generation of video cards as well. So if Crysis requires something like a GeForce 6 series (came out in May 2004) I guess its not so bad to require atleast sometime 2.5 years old.

My computer is probably good enough to run it on medium. I will probably be building a super-rig for this game specifically near the time of its release.

I think it will sell well. I have a 7950 right now which I will probably keep till dx10 comes out. The graphics will probably be toned down a bit, even if they arent, alot of people will update their rig for this game.

I don't care if many people play it or not. If I have fun withit I'm happy and the core community will play it online, taht's enough for me.
