Since EA is signing deals with company's to throw all upcoming titles with in game ads doesn't this mean Crysis will have um aswell? Would kinda be lame though since this is Korea, why would they have Coke and Pepsi signs there ?

its on and island so I would say no ads. Plus even ea isn't stupid enough to ruin a block buster with ads.

I highly doubt it, EA is only the publisher and unless that changes, Crytek would have to approve the idea for it to happen.
BTW, you mind if I add that crysis userbar to my sig? :D

Ya I doubt this as well.
This is the first game of its kind, I highly doubt they would ruin its credibilitey with ads.

I can just see it now;
You're out in the jungle, and suddenly you see a billboard for Denny's Grand slam Breakfast. only $2.99
;)

And then only a few feet behind that sign:
"Tired of paying 3 bucks for your breakfast? Try McDonalls dollar menu breakfasts!"

I got it off userbars.com so anyone who wants to use it go ahead.

If EA feels it's in there best interest to do it they'll do it. Im just worried because the game looks so cool, the feel, the engine, the graphics but a Coke Cola sign in Korea which is isolated from the outside world for many decades I see no real way they can add ads into the game but hey there doing it to BF2142 aswell, and BF2.

...he inclusion of the advertising will provide a "realistic brand presence" that is "contextually relevant" to the gaming environment. The agreement with IGA covers two other undisclosed titles. - ign.com
One of those other "undisclosed titles" could be crysis. Hey if I was EA I wouldn't want to tell everyone I was gonna ruin a game like that either with ads..... what a shame if it is. :thatsbad: Shame on EA :thatsbad:

I dont think it will be Crysis. It is most probably reffering to titles released very soon in the future.

DICE implemented the adds for 2142 seeing as there is no dice for crysis i dont think there will be any adds

I think its more EA than dice.

Dont blame DICE. They are forced by EA to do many things...Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

EA is the puppet master and Dice is on strings along with many other company's that will also be comsumed if not already have. Im suprised EA hasn't grapped creative assembly and the total War series :\
If I bought an in game ad how would I want it well...
- Bright to stand out
- Large
-In a place, in your way
I can already see odd bright green GAMESPY.COM server posters everywhere, just 5 dollars a slot
I have to stop talking now im getting myself upset

In an interview they said, that they want to make the adds as good as possible, so it fits into the world, just be patient and we'll see. ;)

I can see it now, you're sneaking up on a guy to knife him, and the game fades out and goes to a Preperation H commercial.

Yes, that would suck, but they will only be there as a sign.

I'm afraid you aswell as many others misinterpreted the news. Ads in games have been around for years (an australian actually thought of the idea). The big news is that EA are introducing dynamic ads which change depending on your interests and location. They may also rotate in game so on different days you will see different ads.
I highly doubt these will make there way into Crysis though. You may see static ads like sprite bottles in the carrier and posters.etc

As long as you can shoot them and destroy them like the rest of the environment I don't care lol.

Sprite ads on the carrier?
Uhh....NO!
DarQraven
09-18-2006, 07:47 PM
I don't care about the dynamic ads really, it would be more disturbing if there WEREN'T any billboards, considering what it's like IRL these days...
As long as they are not going to be annoying colors that hide your crosshair or whatever (or don't look like an enemy:P) I don't care.

And so far we don't know, if they even include something like that.

I seriously doubt Crytek would allow the ads (if any) to disrupt gameplay.
