If you dont want to read that article.

* It will use around 275 watts of power
* Its almost twice as powerful as a X1900
* It will use a Dual or Tri slot cooler
* We can expect it in January/February

Nvidia's couterpart to it will also be coming out in January.

Only 275 watts?

Are you being sarcastic? Because thats a load of power considering two 7900 GT's run at 280 under full load.

Indeed, that is a ton of power.

Holy moly, that'S very much, but I think it will be a lot less in the end-product.

Insane! I will most definately be getting one though, as I will be building a new rig around that time. Imagine crysis completely maxxed out with DX10.

I doubt I will be getting one until the prices come down if they are above 300.00 dollars for a 256 mb dx10 video card.

If I had the money I wouldn't, for me it's a big waste.

Wow....

Tri-Slot cooler is insane.....they'd be killing their Crossfire sales because you physically wouldn't be able to fit two cards into the machine at that point....(atleast until the motherboards were redesigned).

If the 275W turns out to be true, I have to imagine they'll coming with external power adapters....holy moley....

I'm sure when these suckers come out in January/February they'll sell for a HUGE premium (being the 1st DX 10 card and all)....screw that....I'll be waiting until next summer when the prices get reasonable.

Lol, how about an external GPU case next to your pc?
MS is doing it with their x360 HD-DVD addon, so why not? ;)
No seriously, I now have an x1900xt, conroe, and 2 harddrives, and 450 watts is doing the job just fine. Add about 200 to that, and you should be fine for R700 cards. Still, not alot of people have 650 watt PSU's now.
To be honest, not a lot of people have a pc that scales up to these cards either.
I guess a lot of people will be doing impulsive and useless purchases the first months.

I got 500 watts but I am on AMD so I need more power. If I wanted to get another 7900 GT and a fx-60 (I would like to do that some time soon) I need at least 650, I would probally get a 750 though for when I get dx10 cards or if I want to use a RAID 0 while I am using all my other stuff.

Whooooo your electrical bills are going through the roof soon, boy;)
That means 1,5 hours of your pc running will be 1kWh ... that's gonna cost you.
I think that's also one of the reasons why I won't get a DX10 card at release (besides them not being required). Usually only the second or third generations of a card become power efficient.

Yeah, bills are gonna suck. The bill at my house is near 300, with only two people living in the house

Dude! Is that US Dollars per month? $300 in your Power Bill for the month?

Yep. That was for the month of July. For the last two months it has been around 225-250.

Lol dude, maybe you should switch the microwave off when there's nothing in it;)

Where I live, we have 5 gaming pc's, all around 500watts, and 1 server for movies/games/music etc... in the hallway, and our computer electrical bill (separated electrical channels) is around 200 a month. I dunno HOW we do it..but it works:p

Zyxthior

What the heck are you running at your house? During the month of July we had FOUR of our Air Conditioners running (a 10k BTU, a 7.5k BTU, and two 5k BTU units), plus my gaming PC, plus my TS Server (small 150W PSU), plus all the other appliances (Fridge, Deep Freezer, Washer and Dryer, Dishwasher, Electric Stove, etc.) and it was the highest it had ever been at $200!

What part is killing you, the $ Rate or the kWh usage? (What state are you in?)

Im in Georgia. Neighbors have bills around the same range, some a little higher than me. So it's either my location or something is up with the electrical company here. I haven't been here long, so I can't really say if this is just a sudden boom. I'm hoping it is, though

Out of curiousity, what is your $ kWh Rate and your kWh usage per month our of curiousity. I may just be your power company charges a heft rate....which is unusual because I didn't think Georgia had derregulated yet.

Only 3 days left? That price is too much. I rather use that money for a PS3.
