I have been looking at Crysis for a while and I thought about saving for a 8800gs (if that is even real) but then realized that it would be a waste unless I pimped out the rest of my system.
Here is the system I hope to have in about 2 months:

AMD athlon 3000
2 gig ram(pc2700)
7900gs(evga or bfg or xfx or leadtek most likely)

If anything is holding me back from dx9 crysis, I would say my proc then my ram speed. But I'm hoping I can get away with 1024x768 rez with high quality, most extra settings off, maybe specular and AAx2 with Antistropic filtering on. What do you think??

Yeah you should beable to run it.
You may want to look into some faster ram.

I myself am getting 1x2Gig kit of OCZ dual channel
platnium 3200 xtc.

Its not the ram with the highest bandwidth out there
but it runs at 2-3-2-5. Wich is pretty tight timings for a 2 gig kit. And I also seen a bench were the guy had
pumped it up to 230 mhz with 2.5 cas latency, wich isnt shabby at all.

Also im running GRAW at 1280x1024

Athlon xp 3000+ air cooled 333Mhz fsb
2 gigs of 512 in single channel mode.
x850xt AGP 256.
Asus A7V880 mainboard with windows XP home.
Aduagy ZS2 souncard.

I have everything on graw maxed in the canfig file
eccept shadows off and sky low.
It runs around 35 to 40 fps.

My new rig for Crysis is ganna spank this one.

FX-57 2.8 sandiego.
Asus 32 mvp deluxe mainboard.
2 gig kit of OCZ 3200 platnium EL XTC dual channel.:)
ATI R600, when they arrive. Mybe crossfire later.
WD sata raptor 10,000rpm HD.

Also im gann overclock the heck outa it.

Yeah, most likely I will try and upgrade for DX10 too, when all that stuff comes out. Not the first gen, though...
Right now, I have:
Asus P5B
C2D E6600 @ 3.4Ghz
2Gb Kingston DDR2-667.
Sapphire Radeon X1900XT 512mb.
Maxtor 10.000rpm bulk.

And that runs everything just fine.
I'm planning on keeping everything, and selling the x1900xt on ebay or something, and getting an ATi R600 in return ... or 8800 ... depends which has the best value for money;)

As I'm told that the new cards will not only be DX10-certified, but will also be almost 100% faster (AFAIK that's speculation), it's a pretty good deal;)

Michael from Crytek said his rig had a 7900 and that it was running the game fine.

Vinnie: What kind of computers are being used at Crytek?
Michael: Man, everyone has a different machine here. I don’t even know the specs of my machine. I honestly have no idea. Well I've got an NVIDIA 7800GTX, I know that much.

Vinnie: haha, same card as me.
Michael: So, you will enjoy Crysis :-)

Vinnie: You really think so?
Michael: Well it runs here, and there is no amazing secret hardware or software I have :-)

Vinnie: So you think my pc will run Crysis fine. Maxed out at 1024x768?
Michael: I think so

Vinnie: So Crysis runs fine for you? At the highest details?
Michael: Sure, but it’s not even optimized yet :-)

Great news, they certainly dont operate like EA.

That BF2 engine was a resource hog.

I still hold out hope that the game won't require 2.8 Ghz...im just under at 2.79...but it is nice to know that they are not using over the top equipment there...

That is nice to hear. Also im betting it still has alot of optimizationz to go thru so will probably even faster
when it hits shelves.

One major thing I think is crytek realy doesent want to drop the ball on this one. And are doing all they can to make shure this game comes out without the cut corner
habbits of EA. Since crysis is there baby they have control.

All EA can do is market the posters ,sit back and wait.
Wich I luv very much.

Since evertime I boot up BF2. It creates a little black hole in my rig. BF2 is an awsome game.
But I still cant find my coffee cup .. . . ... .lol

I agree, Akuma , that's the exact term for it: A black hole.
