For all those people that worry that only NASA computers will be able to run crysis, I found this (http://www.crysis-online.com/?id=172) article yesterday.

Basically it states that Crysis in it's pre-alpha build ran at an average of 60fps @2048x1536

on a system with "an unknown C2D processor", a single 8800GTX and 2 gigs of ram.

Because it's pre-alpha, I'm sure it'll run even better when it's released, and mind that this is an insane resolution.
Although I shouldn't really be guessing now, I'm going to do it anyway.

1280x1024 @60fps, everything maxed (except maybe AA):

Any dual core CPU.
X1800 / Gf7800 upwards
1.5 gigs of ram.

Any ideas?

The Vages demo was running on a single core pc with the 8800.
And was also on a dell ultra sharp wich has insane res.

No worries here.

It also has Vista. Great, another $400 that I will spend on something I don't really need just for DX10. :(

Nah ..im not going to get my head kicked in by Vista testing.
Ill wait to see what it has to offer in real world situations.
And how fast the privet sector's are running there stuff.

I would more likly trust the bench marks of somone who payed a cr@p load for it then somone who recived 5 copies for free.;)

so ill wait.

I think we all have to take a step back here. DirectX is just a shader! So yeah, DX10 shaders run easier and have better quality; so what? There are many other visual requirments involved in Crysis that don't even involve DX10 [or shaders for that matter]. If you have solid RAM and a good processor, your top of the line DX9 card is definitley going to run fine.

Not as good as the way I spelled definitely, but fine.

System specs:
1. Intel Penium 4 HT 6.4Ghz [don't ask me]
2. Nvidia GeForce 7950GT 622Mhz/780Mhz
3. 1GB of RAM 800Mhz/800Mhz [yeah, I have to upgrade...]
4. 1280 x 1024 75hz
5. Yeah, I am kind of crazy about frequencies

I'm still confused about the hole dx10 and vista situation. I thought you didn't have to have vista for it????

Is it not backwards compatible. So do i have to have vista to run non dx10 games?????

The Quick Rundown:

Vista comes with DX10. DX10 comes with Vista only. DX10 will not be released for older OSes (XP).

DX10 compatible games will look better on Vista, assuming you have DX10 compatible hardware (such as the G80).
They will also run on Windows XP with DX9, but the new DX10 features will not be there.

The same goes for playing a DX10 compatible game on Vista with a DX9 video card. It will just run in DX9 mode.
DX10 required games will only run on Vista and with DX10 compatible hardware, but don't expect them to be released within 1,5 - 2,5 years from now.

DX9 games will just run in DX9 mode in Vista and with DX10-hardware. Nothing changes the games.

Example:

-Crysis, DX10 GPU, Vista: DX10 mode
-Crysis, DX10 GPU, XP: DX9 mode
-Crysis, DX9 GPU, Vista: DX9 mode

AA - Makes all edges super smooth, or meant to, can kill your FPS at time's.

That is why I kind of hate microsoft. They do everything for their new stuff to sell and make everyone who has the old one upgrade (reminds me of EA). That is why I am not going to upgrade until like 2-4 years from now until vista is the standard just like xp is now. vista is the same thing as xp just with new skins. (this reminds me of BF2142). That is why DX10 is vista only so at least the gamers will have some reason to upgrade.

Oh and I had the beta for vista and I can tell you that it will suck up 50% of your pc's power. My hdd didn't stop and my ram was almost full with nothing running except vista.

Exactly, PC's update every couple of months while consoles update every couple of years.

I own a Ps3 and a 360, its kinda obvious I didnt buy them because the hardware was "1337" if I did I would be a moron, and be totally oblivious of crysis and its amazingness.

I've been a fan of the PS franchise and its games since PS1 (mostly PS2 games though)

Naughty Dog games Ill buy. (mostly hoping for another Crash Bandicoot)
LucasArts (starwars, duh ? DMM + euphoria = awesome)
Capcom (DMC4)
Konami (MGS4)
From Software (AC4)

The 360 I forced myself to think it was a good investment because of MassEffect alone, but I figured PS3 dont come out for another year so why not?

And Unreal Tournament 07? or 08? I've always preferred these games on consoles, and was usually an RTS PC gamer for a while until PS2 came out, then its graphics started getting less and less on par with the generation so I quickly upgraded my computer and no Crysis is coming out and im hyped.

The XBox360 was ahead for a while.. Games are already better then that right now. So the PS3 isn't as "next gen" as they say it is.

Yeah, I feel like Sony made a bad decision by releasing PS3 so late.

DarQraven

Nah, I don't think so. Console gamers will just have to accept that, once again, when it comes to graphics, PC will be king, always.
There was a short period when the 360 was marginally ahead, mainly because there was a lull in graphics development for the PC. (only new tech was crossfire/SLI, and that never really was popular)

Now, however, practically every decent PC game is on par or ahead of console graphics, and it'll only get worse over time, when PC has the G90 GPU, and the PS3/360 are still the same old PS3/360.
If people actually bought a console for it's awesome graphics, prepare to be shocked, but you made a wrong decision, as CrysisPwnz has already stated.

The only thing that's changed for PS3 because of the late release is that there won't be many fanboys crying out how PS3 GRAPHICS PWNZ ALL OMG!!
Sales will still be about the same though...
