Hey guys, I just want to know what everybody thinks of Intel and AMD processors for gaming? Do you Prefer Intel over AMD or AMD over Intel?
I Think AMD is made more for gamming computers, as Intel is for working.

Evga 590 Sli Mobo
AMD 5200 X2 am2 processor 5.6 ghz overclocking to 3.0 ghz
8800 GTS 640 Ko Evga

I prefer AMD over Intel, but i'm using an Intel.
The Intel Core 2 Duo processors are MUCH better than the AMD ones for gaming. If I remember rightly, all AMD processors out atm will bottleneck an 8800 GPU.
If you have the money, go for the Intel Quad Core CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115011
Or go for a cheaper Dual Core
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115003
And go for either an nForce 650 or nForce 680 mobo.

ATM, Intel's Core 2 Duo CPUs are way better than AMD's Athlon 64 X2, and considering you budget, you'd be a fool to build a PC with an AMD CPU. Instead, you should get a Core 2 Duo E6600, which will easily overclock to 3GHz+. I'm guessing you like EVGA products, so for you I'd recommend EVGA's 680i motherboard. You can keep the rest of the components the same.

thats why the 5200s are kicking the c2ds in benchmarks right...
Now the quad core intel thats a differant story. Once AMD kicks out its True quad core i will rofl at the little hybrid intel quad.

By the time AMD comes out with a cuad core, intel will come out with a octa core

True that.
And I prefer my Intel, because I laugh at those who pay so much for AMD processors and get the processing power of a PS3.

lol, shut up just because u get 10 more fps on u intel, Intel may be the King for now, but One day AMD is going to jab a knife in its back and say, "I'm Back B(Atch!" :)

idk ive always had AMD and ATI and I've always got just as good performance as the Intel systems. Computers are a game of leapfrog. AMD releases fastest thing then intel releases faster thing then AMD then Intel and so on. Same with ATI and Nvidia. It's basically do you want the name Intel in ur specs or AMD or do you want a red card or a *** green card. <<Soz lulz It's always going to go back and forth forever and no one can deny that.

I have to disagree... It hasnt been a back and forth battle. AMD/Nvidia have always been the gaming king, but now, for the first time EVER, are no longer king. Every AMD outperformed every comparable Intel when it came to gaming, but was always a little more expensive. Every Nvidia outperformed every comparable ATI, but was more expensive. Intel/ATI are finally getting thier stuff straight and have finally, for the first time, put out products that will outperform AMD/Nvidia combos, and at the same great prices they have always offered.
But to answer the question...CORE 2.

True, but I think the leap from dual core to cuad core was kind of fast.

I agree with you. Intel has more experience and better quality. My first processor was an AMD, after that I got 2 intels and I think I made the right choice.

im biased LOL ive never had an AMD so i never want one, kinda like EVGA 8800's are the same as a BFG 8800 but the BFG is $100 more expensive id want the BFG because thats all ive ever had except i got a PNY nVidia 5500 for a old PC so i could play bf2 on it

At the moment the right CPU to get is a Core 2 Duo.
You should read This (http://tomshardware.co.uk/2007/03/26/the_gigahertz_battle_uk/index.html).

Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13ghz 2x2MB L2 cache is IMO a terrific buy. OC's to 3200 (400x9) with some DDR2 800 memory.

Yeah i agree if you get one of the Core 2 Duo E6600's youll be set. Theyre not too expensive and they perform like theres no tomorrow.

Dude get an intel processor they are so much better for gaming right now. They are always ahead of AMD, i'm surprised they haven't bought them out yet.
But go for an intel, way more overclocking power with those Core 2 duos.

I love how some people argue that they prefer Intel over AMD, and then state that they have never owned an AMD cpu.
Right now, the way to go is C2D. They're affordable, fast, and overclock pretty well. But I suppose everyone else already made that point clear:p

Well, at this moment I own both and have friends that have both, all of us agree that Intel chips work better.

True, but are you making a comparison of equal CPU's?
I find it hard to believe that if you already own a Pentium D "something", you'd also buy the exact same processor from AMD.
Also, because of the C2D line, the competition is extremely unfair. It's a new line, completely redesigned from the ground up, while the AMD X2 line has been around for quite a while.
So yeah, ATM Intel is market leader. That is not to say that if you've got 200 dollars to spend on a CPU, getting an Intel will always mean you've got the best for your money.

If you can wait, wait for the end of the year, when intels penryn comes and and AMDs Barcelona. I really hope AMD will make the run. :)
