View Full Version : Will Multiplayer have a custom map redirect?

I loved playing Far Cry and made several maps but our server rarely got any play when the new maps were introduced. The problem was peeps didn't have the map and would have to go to our website to download...which they hardly ever did. Our alliance gave up on playing Far Cry for that reason since we rely on custom maps for our mainly Sniper format.

Generally we play COD2 and it has a custom map redirect feature that allows players automatically download maps from our site. I was wondering if anyone has heard if Crysis is going to incorporate this feature.

That's an important question indeed and you could also ask it about serverside minimods etc...

I too would like this feature, like in Half Life/1 and 2 and it's mods, if you didn't have the map it was automatically downloaded, you just had to sit and wait. It was great because you didn't have to go hunting for the damn map if you wanted to play it, it was just handed to you for a small fee of using up some of your gametime to download it from the server.

When you think about it, a feature like this makes the mods popular and makes sure everyone gets them, example is ET. :)

Well maps shouldnt be to awesomely big. There's a lot of procedural stuff.

Unlike some other games *cough* QW *cough*

the multiplayer for Crysis looks fun as hell. errr sounds fun as hell.
