Just like any other PC game, I'll probably finish Crysis in 3days. After that, the multiplayer part is what's gonna keep the game from dying. I love playing on servers w/ lots of players in them. You don't get bored easily bec. there is nonstop action, less feeling of repetitiveness.
I hope the engine can handle 40+ players just fine. They should just keep the ragdoll effect on the players but not the destruction of the environment(w/c will ruin the gameplay anyway).

I don't know what happened to Far Cry's multiplayer?

I think there's a 32 player limit, sorry.

Biggest thing you will need to worry about is finding a Powerful enough server on a great host!

I intend to run such a server with Quadcore Xeons, 2gigs server side ram and dual hot swap 15,000RPM SCSI's all on one of the most powerful and fastest pipes in North America..

First post, glad to be aboard this forum.

Unless your LAN playing, what netcode today isn't? Far Cry wasn't known for its online play. I won't be surprised if Crysis also isn't geared toward online play.

But I think that they are paying a little more attention to online play since it keeps getting more and more popular.

P.S. Nice avatar Innova :)

I never played it and by the way, does 150 exclude 128? No. ;)

BF 1942 handled it just fine, and it was a hell of alot more stable then BF2 ever was....

I would put Tribes (the first one) as having the best multiplayer net code, so much stuff going on in that game with deployable's and vehicles and it all ran extremely well even over dial-up.

I would think they have a low player cap in crysis for all the physics and interactivity with things like trees, all that stuff has to be updated to everyone connected and still keep up with tracking kills and whatnot, I hope it's at least 32 player but I wouldn't be surprised if it were lower than that like 24 or so.

I know that 2142 servers run smoothly on a 32 person size map. We had a 64 man server that wasnt dedicated and it ran like ****. A lot of people complained. We looked at making it a dedicated server but it was going to cost way to much. We held onto it as much as possible for our peeps that played on it regularly. Near the end of S1 for 2142 we won a 32 person server. For not being dedicated, it runs very smooth. Im down with a huge server, as long as it runs smoothly.
