I've just received a Plantronics GameCom 1 headset (late crimbo present). And I've had no luck in being heard on servers that support VOIP. Nobody can hear me (I've asked in-game).
Now, I've tested the mic in WinXP and with the BF2 Voice setup file. It works fine. But inside BF2 I can only hear myself in the "mic test" if the threshold is set to 0%. Anything above and nothing. Mic boost option is unavialable.
I'm using onboard sound which is a C-Media 8738 chip which supports EAX 1 (and 2?) and is allegdely hardware driven. Motherboard is a Socket A Chaintech 7NJS Zenith Ultra. I have sound setup in-game as software/meduim with EAX off (only EA games with EAX on give me problems). It's supposed to be a full-duplex sound chip and I've tested this by playing an MP3 and recording my voice at the same time, it worked....so that should mean full duplex onboard sound. Mic input is set to max in both Windows and the sound drivers.
I don't have either Teamspeak or Ventrilo installed yet. I don't know why I'm not being heard? Any ideas?
EDIT: Oh blast....can one of the Admins move this post to the Tech Center thread please? Posted in wrong forum.
