Getting started with AF+EF Qs

I've just got my AF+EF Booster Pack DVD today. I'm just wondering how to progress with installing it as it seems to cause a lot of woes for some peeps.

Should I create an EA account with ea.com before installing the AF+EF pack? This is now called EA Nation, right? I live in the UK btw. Would it be wise to un-install my current BF2+SF game, reinstall it (minus patches), install AF+EF and then patch up to 1.41?

Looking forward to a hassle free AF+EF experience....

Just install AF and EF and then repatch with 1.41. You'll be fine.

Make your Internet Browser default "Internet Explorer" as opposed to "Firefox" so that popups don't screw you up.

You shouldn't need to create an EA account ahead of time; the installer will send you to the site to create one at the end and link it to your BF2 account. It seems you need to use IE for your browser for that to work properly; you should be able to switch back to your regular browser when that is done (e.g. Firefox or Opera).

Exactly so. It looks that most of the install issues here were Firefox popup blocker related.

From time to time there are more. I ususally find 10 or so but they are empty at different times.

^excellent AF+EF server; well admin'd.

They do judiciously enforce a few rules--no entering the uncap except spec ops, no killing in the uncap, period, no stealing uncap vehicles, etc. I don't usually like rules, but theirs work, and the server was very enjoyable. I've decided that EF is under appreciated; going back tonight if there's room!
