BF2Deathmatch v0.1 Released

Sir. Elxx is back today with the first release of his newly announced mod BF2Deathmatch. Here's what he had to say about this completely new BF2 experience:

Here is the first public beta of the brand-new BF2Deathmatch mod. It includes 9 deathmatch arenas - three each on Karkand, Fushe, and Mashtuur. 0.1 doesn't have all the bells and whistles that we're planning to add, but it offers some very pure intense combat that breaks away from the traditional team-based style of Battlefield.

Developed with a unique scoring system, BF2Deathmatch features a free for all combat style of gameplay in which players can experience intense close-combat firefights on their favourite BF2 maps. They may be familiar to you now, but you will learn to appreciate every nook and cranny in this hectic fight for frags.

There's not much else to say - join a server and shoot anything that moves!

Server admins, make sure Friendly Fire is ON and all TK tracking and punishing is disabled.

Hey elxx if you are there i was just on the sir server and i found a bug. Whenever you try to shoot someone or you get shot you don't get injured. I don't know if the friendly fire has to be off on the server or what but I am not dieing and same with everybody else.

Sounds awesome but oh crap! Could we please have just a self-extracting archive or just a zip file installation? I hate installers which install all kinds of stuff I can't get rid of. And this just makes me feel the creator thinks I'm stupid. Oh well, I'm just gonna install this into dummy folder, copy the files and remove it. And take a look at the fancy scripts you've made ;)

The installer is very clean I wouldn't worry about it. I hope everyone downloads this, it's ridiculously fun! :D

yeah but i was there and u r running a "1" ping and everyone else is running 300-1000 ping and u just sit there and shhot everyone who cant do anything.....

everyone goes from 150 in a sec straight to 300+

The sir server fails at the moment. And RKO server is a lag fest.
The beards attempt at changing autobalance off has failed so we are stuck with half the people in spectator.

I Can't even play it for some retared reason. NEED HELP

Everytime I install it, I go to the Icon and click it and it asks for the BF2. exe and it shouldn't. Anyway, I put the BF2.exe on it and I get into the intro screens and then when I get the meau, It's not the DealthMatch meau, it's just the BF2 one with the battleing in the back ground. and When I go to multieplay, It just crushes to desktop!

Here is MY opinion of the mod.

It is very well coded and done, there are no bugs and everything works perfectly.

But for me its not fun, Battlefield just isn't made for this type of gameplay. Very good job on the mod and I love Battle Racer and SandBox.

Remember this is just my opinion.

Yep, DM is an acquired taste. I didn't put nearly as much effort into it as I did with Sandbox and Battleracer. This was more of an experiment to see how well it would work in BF2 and whether people would like it.

Is the deviation on the ak and m16 the same as bf2 vanilla? if so ill be pubbing exclusively on deathmatch, until match time that is.

Haha, nice to own you once or twice...and maybe get owned a few times by you. Yeah, there were way too many people running around with the shotty. But hey...it's a shotty. I just remember owning the crap out of a sniper in one shot with my good ole AK(luck, turned and shot:laugh: ). AND we need more weapons! Measly selection. No 101...No bolt action snipers...

HI, Great mod guys!
Im looking to install it on our unranked server but its giving me some grief, in that it doesnt load. I had used bf2ccd which was a bit fragile with mods but i have done a clean install of the bf2server and started it via CLI (no bf2ccd) but when i specify deathmatch it fails to start. I get no errors that I can see either.
The server is linux (Cent OS).
Any help appriciated.
