The Eve of Destruction (http://www.eodmod.com/forum/portal.php) mod team is back today with their latest media update to showcase. Here's what they had to say:
Another week, another Daily Advisor (http://www.eodmod.com/news/07.01.30/NewsVIIIcopy.jpg) to inform all of our fans. This week's advisor focuses on the smaller things troops use in the field, which are also the small odds and ends which really are difficult to tie up in a mod. Many members have been working hard even this late in the release schedule to produce these small items, which really add to the ambiance of the mod. Could we have just used BF2 stuff for this? Of course, but it would detract from the Vietnam ambiance. We at Eve of Destruction pride ourselves on bringing a truly unique experience to the battlefield.
I would also like to take this news release to remind everyone who can to apply at http://www.eodmod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2136 because we will soon wrap up this process by sending out the invitations to everyone our team has recognized, as well as those who apply and are accepted.
Additionally, I want to describe the form artillery will take in our first release. We will not use BF2 artillery, but a player controlled option different from other mods or games. Both sides have static mortars, (with player deployable versions in the works). The U.S. and NVA/VC also have howitzers (105's and M46's though they are less common on the maps). Once the player fires the weapon, they enter a chase cam which follows the shell. While this might seem overpowering, it is quite difficult to aim without someone helping to spot them because of the speed of the shell. Below are a couple pictures of mortar induced destruction. Lastly, here are a few screen shots of most of the items discussed in the Advisor.
