The Point of Existence 2 (http://www.pointofexistence.com/) mod team is back today with a very large update that covers all aspects of the mod. Here's what they had to say:

To help both new players of our mod and former ones that need to reload the mod, we’ve decided to re-release the current build as one simple download (http://pointofexistence2.hypernia.net/). It will contain an install program that will install POE:2 fully onto your computer with all of the original POE:2 maps, BF:2 ported maps, and the maps from the level design contest. Hypernia will have the files available via Hypernia's bit torrent site, their high speed data silo server in the UK, and from a server here in the USA. We will provide other download sites once we have the files mirrored. A note about the client install program, it verifies itself before starting, but the window showing this doesn't always appear so users might not know that the installer has started.

Over the last few weeks we’ve had some great things happen. The level design contest winners were announced in news #92with the winner ( Michi.be ) becoming a member of the team. The map pack was released containing the maps “Red Dawn by Michi.be”, “Operation Acorn by Feenicks”, “Berezne by =VSF=Dali”, “Woodland by Running”, and “Stormfront by Racer” and the BF:2 ported maps. For Server Administrators please review this post about playing these maps on your servers. People trying to join a server running the BF2 ported maps will get a “modified content” error unless the administrator has done what is posted in the linked topic. Read more... What I'm excited to see is how you guys get this animation going. Considering the reload sequence...
· Fire last round
· Manipulate bolt and eject spent case
· Drop firing hand two inches and eject “cold” magazine, or punch out magazine with support hand while reaching forward with firing hand for “hot” magazine.
· Reach forward of trigger guard with firing hand and access charged magazine
· Reload
· Sight in and squeeze.
I'm skeptical as to how you're dealing with this cold magazine. Whether you'll leave it untouched, amp up the power and accuracy(no pun) and make us deal with an overly extensive reload animation, or have a separate reload anim. for reload 1 compared to reloads 2-5(or however many magazines you're lettin' us pack with this SOB).

I have faith. I have faith...

Welcome to the world of BF2 mods! Remember that each map has three versions, adding to the file size. It is worth the HD space, trust me!

Yes it is large but so what. I never understood how people scream for more and more content and then freak out at the size of mods when they deliver.

ye BF2 mods will just get larger and larger. I expect FH2 on its first release will be easily over 1gb aswell and they are only working on the north africa campain...

main thing that takes up the space is maps as well ye, they are huge :p

We have a artist on staff (Macht_Tot) that does custom animations for handweapons, I am sure that weapon shouldnt be too difficult for him.

For a second there I thought there wasn't a torrent file, but there is, it's slightly hidden away on the Hypernia page. Maybe you could make that more clear to people, I'm sure a lot of us prefer bittorrent for these bigger files.

I would download a mod, as long as it is a great mod, even if it was 5gb. Just think of it as a brand new game...we all know EA/DICE think so, otherwise they wouldn't charge for their "extra" content.

PEACE
