My rig:

Pentium Dual core @ 3.2 Ghz
2 GB RAM
7600GT 256 MB

Now, if I bought a Radeon 2900XT, would I be able to run Crysis on high, based on the beta? Would a 2900xt improve performance?

Meh I'm still an ATI fan but pretty much a 88gts 640 and up will kick a 2900s arse. It would prob be an improvement over your 7600gt but the GTS 640 will run cooler and require less power to do the same if not more.

They've been right on pretty much everything since I've been there... Wiki is just as much a public knowledge base as any other news site when it comes to unreleased things. I remember it getting changed 4 times in a day near the launch of the 2900. The only important thign though is that the next Nvidia card will be pcie2, dx10.1, and smaller nm. Which means faster clocks and less power needed and less heat produced.

So would a 2900XT help me up the GFX on Crysis to high-ish?

yes it should. Don't know about what resolution, but an 8800 would do it better

Yes it will be more then fine. The 2900 will require an larger power supply but it will run it on high just like the 8800.

It'll run just like an 8800 gts. It still can't touch a gtx or ultra. Which for most is more than good enough. ATI has fixed a lot of the bugs and has some nice performance boosts with the latest drivers. Originally it couldn't even touch a gts. So i think its a good bet if you've got the power and heat management.
