Well, I'm sorting warming to BF2142...but...mech armour and stuff isn't particulaly my scene. I'll probably see how it goes with everyone else buying it first.

My concern is that it will be anothe half baked release like BF2 was, some would argue that it still is. I mean...it's just bug after bug, glitch after glitch, patch after patch.

Will EA bang out another bummer than needs a patch every month or so? Will they learn from their mistakes and test it more thoroughly before it's released?

If we're going down the bug road remember back to BF1942 and BFV and they had exactly the same problems and took on patches all the way up to 1.6 stil leaving issues.

Mech style will be something totaly different from what i've played but if they put the effort into it, keeping the BF style it'll be interesting.

i'm personally not liking the idea this whole future warfare thing is to farfetched, it should be introduced subtly like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter,

Future Combat is also a huge cliche cmon mechs hover vehciles.

what the guys at EA and Dice should have done (if they wern't out to make money) should have allowed the series to progress to where it is now everyone loves modern combat (DC proved that back in 42) the biggest mods are based around either WWII, Vietnam or Modern-esque combat (BF2 may have maps based on real places but the scenerios are ficticious)

Point of Existence did a future scenerio with a semi-progressive storyline, which everyone loved its based on weapons and vechiles that were in testing which looked futuristic,

2142 is a step into the unknown the consensus on planetbattle field is a big no, theres already a plethora of games based on the future scenerio (halo, mechwarrior, planetside).

EA and Dice should follow what the mod makers do with their engine and follow what the community like then release a game based around this information (as no significant mods have been released yet EA obviously havnt give a damn) but its seems the whole community in general like the modern combat/near future thing,

Please EA think about the complications of this,

1942 sold 4 million copies vietnam sold slightly less BF2 only made the 1 million mark we all know that its the mods that sell the game (I bought 1942 for DC) simply switching to a different genre and game to ensure your getting money from ranked server does not go down well with the community.

Like others, I am not too keen on the futuristic theme of BF2142. MechWarrior has been done. And I didn't like that game. Nor did I care for StarWars Battlefront or even UT 2004 that much because of the futuristic theme and weaponry.

However, I am a loyal fan of the Battlefield series (since Code Name Eagle) and will likely get BF2142 regardless. The main reason I don't worry too much is because I suspect vehicle and the "MechWarrior" operation will be arcade-style like the rest of the series.

This tradition of making it easy to jump into the game and start having fun instead of having a lengthy learning curv is part of the BF appeal. So long as DICE/EA remain loyal to that concept without dumbing it down, all will be well... I hope.

futurisitc games dont really appeal to me, only 2142 does since its a BF. I know it will be pretty cool.

II am extremely hyped about bf2142, but the whole mech thing is flawed. First off bipeds things are not the most stable (im constantly tripping over my own feet). Second they are always depicted as EXTREEMLY powerful.

I know this is a fantasy fps and reality shouldn’t come into play, but the idea of mechs just doesn’t get me all giggly.

Let me just say this. If they do have mechs I think they should include trip lines as part of the anti armor kit, just cause I love seeing mechs fall over and struggle like a turtle.

Yeah give it some time before you jump the gun on your conclusion....Even with all the bugs and problems that BF2 has, it still remains one of the most addictive games out there. I for one am looking forward to BF2142, because I'm a huge fan of the sci-fi genre as well as modern combat.

According to the latest PC Gamer that has all the info in it, work began on BF2142 as soon as BF2 shipped. So hopefully in that span of time, and with all of the advice/complaints in the current set of forums, hopefully they would have worked on those current bugs to release a less buggier version. But only time will tell....

I think this game will either make or break the BF franchise.

EA's Big thing it has going for it is the ranking system. Is Quake Wars going to have one?

As far as the patches go BF1942 was messed up. But BFV was a little bit better. So I hope thats the same case with 1942 seeings how there spending less time on makeing a new engine. I do hope they fix it though.

i've tried the beta version for 2142. the air vehicles for 2142 is inverted if u compare with bf2. is there anyway u can change that??

I'm concerned about the connection issues. Haven't seen any bugs so far but then again, I haven't been able to stay in a game longer than 5 minutes to see any.

WTF im gonna know whats my latency... thats pretty much lame , stilll like the brownsing in BF2 More specific, no you see its " LEDS " not numbers...

omfg shamus its u, long time no see, i dont know about bf2142 bf42 is best can't beat the mods. bf2 mods so far are not that good, except for operation peacekeeper. i dont think bf2142 is going anywhere, that's why i think dice sold out. i seen the same thing with tribes. :-(
