View Full Version : What would you like to see in BF2142?

I want larger maps, with 126 player max rather then 64 for us better high end computers and internet. Also I want snow maps with dense blizzards going on.
BFV and BF2 have really bad load times bet they carry over to Bf2142.
No cute sounds werid but it's the future, they can make anything they want and all the realism buffs can't complain lol Hover board with wings :D
They should have many different types of tanks to add variety. Like tanks with tracks that are more powerful, hover tanks faster but less punch with maybe 2 machine guns.
Well the one thing I hope the commander system has is better control over the battlefield but still not enough to make a noob commander ruin the game. Give command orders to any player on the field. Laser Arillery?Percision laser strikes? Commanders should be able to order planes to bomb places. So it would bring some order to the lone wolf fly around racking up as much points as you can.
Infantry and tank based: I want BF to stay true to the series, which it is know for it Vehicles. But I want more Infantry fighting. BF 2 was a lot of planes if the map had it, but that is how real wars are fought so can't really complain. Even though in the future Aviation tech got better so did the AA tech so im hoping planes have a hard time staying
Buildings need to be more accessible. I found in BF2 most where closed off. BF:SF had alot open but still not enough.
I want giant movable carriers where I can spawn on and take off from etc.
Most of these probably won't happen but here you can dream.

I would like to see them make the sound better. Maybe its my sound card but me and other people with high pc agree that the sound of the guns suck. In bfv the guns had a huge amount of bass to them. In BF2 they sound like cap guns.
I cant afford the PC I would like right now so I want to see them tighy(optimize) the engine so It runs more smoothly. Right now its sloppy imo.
I want to see the name thing fixed. I doubt they are going to roll the accounts over. So I would like to see them learn from there mistakes and make it so you can change your name without affecting your rank. That way you dont get stuck with clantags if you were stupid(like me) and make a name with them.
In americas army your account is not tracked through your name but your email. And you can change either of them anytime you want without affecting your honor level.
Those are my to biggest things I want to see done, make it so you can change your name and make the engine smoother for now so high end pc's/
BTW my specs are
2.67 ghz P5
1024 megs of pc2700
X800 256 megs of ram and 425 core clock speed.
I know its not the best but its way better than b4 and its the best I can do with this pos rig.

what you have to remember is that the majority of online gamers play with just simple specs. With that many players on a sever at the same time, I know my comp would sh*t it's self, the load time would be twice as long as Bf2 and the sever would probaly crash every 30mins or so.
Saying that I do belive in a little while (over next 2 or more years) the 126 players + on a sever would be a reality.
I would also like to see the name thing fixed, maybe have your username as your e-mail and be able to use what ever name you want ingame.

I want a hell of alot :D
mostly improvements on the BF2 game
- in vehicle VoIP
- Buddy list (confirmed I think)
- All major vehicles to require 2 players to function optimally (tanks included)
- tanks that are practically invulnerable to handheld AT missiles (excluding TOW) except for disabling movement(threads) or turret, rendering it helpless
I have a very clear idea of what I want to see in a game - far too much to ask for :(

Seriously tho... I would like to see female player models. I play with some ladies and it never fails to wierd me out to see 'em come running looking all butch 'n hairy. Their voice macros get me too.
With the resources it would take (both to run it and production expences), put it on the list of things that aren't likely to happen and prolly shouldn't.

Linking it with your stats where you declare permanantly your gender would avoid abuse etc.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of females in BF2142. The same cons apply (do they really add anything to the game? Is it worth the expence of developing full new models, animations, and voices? The load on client computers could be spent on other things), but for some reason it just twigs to me as a good thing.
Other and above chicks, I'd like to see a full blown sensor system. Tribes 2 had the best sensor/recon/detection system yet to be implemented in a FPS. It's almost a crime that it hasn't been surpassed or even matched.
Basic idea (for those who don't know Tribes):
Sensors were perminant assets that could be destroied and repaired. They detected things in Line of Sight within a radius. Smaller sensors could also be deployed by troops alowing players to build a network. Vehicles also had sensors and the scout craft could be used as a (OMG) scout to keep an eye out for enemy movements. If you get caught on enemy sensors you had a red light that flashed a warning (I refered to it as my "oh sh!t light") and let you know your cover was blown.
I don't see how the current BF2 engine wouldn't be up to the task of putting something like this in. It would add another layer to gameplay while at the same time making sensors less invasive (like the current UAV/Scan system).
It's gotta get done!!

Better squad control and communication. More maps that are totally different, a lot of the BF2 maps feel the same to me. Chick models would add a nice contrast to the BF2 game as well.

in pc gamer they said they are testing a rail gun but will prbly not inlude it because it unbalances the game

I think that's a good idea and that you can make your own face and body. for all those that have played The sims 2, you can make your own players there and that had been cool in bf1242.
More weapons to unlock. Alot more.

Yeah new and much better unlocks will be fun. In the Pc gamer article they said something about that you are going to be able to modefing your equipment or something like that. :p

Ya that sounds cool. I really do hope the optimize the engine, fix name thing, and make the weapons sound cool like they did in bfv with a lot of bass. These guns sound like snap caps.

it says it takes place on continents so.... yeah.. larger maps should definately be there. much larger maps. like oman times 10.lol
that way the jetplanes(or whatever theyll have) will be useful and will be needed for transportation.

I would like to see some futuristic Snipers.
One class thats only allowed to operate mechs and other vehicles. NOT ENGINEER.
Some missiles that blow the legs off those mechs in case of any spawn raping..

I would love to see alot of blood and gore in the game (Explained here (http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37162&highlight=blood+gore))
I believe that there should be differnt weather enviroments that change from time to time on all maps. Night and day/noon/fog/solar eclipses.
Some really nice glossy graphics for windows and show the reflection and almost blind you if your looking at the sun.
Goggles that you can use at any time on any map. (Night vision different types, or even infared (with colors and black and white)) and the ability to activate solar shades.
Super Transport planes/trucks that can carry vehicles and soilders (all depends on who jumps in) and the doors can be opened and closed and the wheels can be lowered and raised. It should also have heavy armor on the transports, with guns.
Every member should be able to spot out enemies and when they do it shows them on a pip type style.
When someone dies it shows them a replay in slow motion or if they are about to get it with a one shot kill headshot it shows it to them as they are getting killed.
and by all means all ranked servers should have to have the battlerecorder on no matter what.
No name changes (how else would we be able to report a user. It would be usless if they did something wrong and then they could change their name, also it would be harder to keep track of the good players, or find friends) but there should be something in game that tells you in bold that once you have that player name you will not be able to change it, no custom map support on ranked servers unless the maps or approved by EA/Dice. That way they can be checked for errors and exploites.
There should be a way (simple way) that custom modders and map makers can submit thier maps/mods to EA/DICE so they can be reviewed or ranked. This should all be accessable in game. Along with the Blood and Gore option.
You should also be able to have a log of how ever many players you select so you can go back and look at them if they were cheating (would include their player name and id)
I also believe the ability to fly in the clouds should actually seem like you are flying in clouds with out your plane or chopper going out of control when you go to high ( especially when it like to go out of bounds). You should be able to almost fly into space or fly into space since its the future but not be able to go that far.
I believe that grappeling hooks should be available for everyone along with th e fix on the parachute button so it does not have to be pressed 1,000 times for it to release.
I would really like to see stealth airplanes and choppers were you can turn the stealth off but if you fire you loose it for a small period of time.
But I would really like to see the oldschool style come back with BF1942, DC, DCFINAL.
and the music, well it's just awsome.
Custom Soundtrack so you can choose to listen to music from the server, in-game or from your pc. And if you listen to it from your pc and your driving a vehicle and if the options are set people can hear what your listening too, to get a fill of how you game in the heat of the battle.
Also a way to extract the sounds from all the previous games and listen to the soundtracks from them too or a mod and convert it to .mp3
Have the ability to play on every map ever made from any of the games before 2142.
Also every vehicle is drivable, every building is enterable. They should have office building that you can hide in while the huge mechs walk buy. Then you can grapple on to the mechs and set explosive and they wouldn't even know. But they can also destroy buildings and instead of having the maps reset after every round maybe have it last until a map change.
That is all I can think of for right now.

More Rewards for support. E.g. Flying the cargo planes or helis that can carry supplys, A command vehicle like the Brit panther so the commander has mobilty and a better screen unlike the unrealistic super G.P.S. handheld device you seem to have.
I would also for a better feel of the game and to freak people out, if you come past a battle that just ended with a flag capture or somthing that dead bodies should littter the floor, this could though cause a lot of slowdown.

One thing I'd VERY much like to see in BF2142 is an imporoved admin mode.
Admins should be able to log in with a password and have access to freecam, warn/kick/ban functions, a full maps, and be able to follow players like in BR playback. Hell, let 'em take PB screens from within that mode too.
This would be a HUGE bonus for keeping padders, exploiters, and cheaters at bay.

Courtesy of Unreal tournament and their smart alecky death quotes. Also maybe notifying other players of players that are on rampages (Basically for example if you have sniping sprees of 5 you get an message player is a skilled marksman or if you took out 5 enemy planes without ejecting/crashing you get called an Ace.)

What I would like to see in BF2142:
A well desgined and thought out game with bugs kept at a minimum, well optimized engine, and fair game play on all levels of the playing field.

It’s probably too late as they’re already set on the number of maps that will come with the game (design wise finished) but I would like to see a less sterile environment, everything looks untouched by weapons and explosions and constant fighting (for the most part), even BF2 had this problem, none of the maps looked like old war torn cities, not enough hulled out buildings from previous aerial bombing or heavy artillery strikes, something like you would see in WWII Europe or like Stalingrad on the eastern front.
The one map they’ve previewed so far the most has these large skyscraper like buildings and not even a single cracked window, I think they really need to rough up the look of the maps and add more rubble and destruction to them, large craters blasted into the earth, twisted rubble etc. It would add a lot of atmosphere to the game.

Mebbie not such a good idea...I'm willing to bet that some modder will come up with something like the gta hot coffee thing...fu** up the game..and then get it taken off the shelves for porno or something..

Most servers are populated by folks just trying to rack as many points as possible while not caring about their side winning or not. Perhaps if the points system gave better bonuses to playing the game correctly you would have more dynamic teamplay and I beleive a better gaming experience. Imagine a world where when you call for support, someone actually comes to help!

Well people in squads will get more points so in 2142 there will always be full squads but i agree there should be more rewards for the actual teamplaying.
EXAMPLE: your squad captures/protects flags and the people who were with in a certain range of the leader get extra points for that;)
Or in titan mode your squad blows the titan so any one in range of the leader when you initially blow the titan gets extra points;)
Any way thats what i think would encourage teamplay and not just joining a squad and then going lone wolf:D

Although I am not sure how the vicinity points would work....ie. what happens if you were capping a flag with your team and got killed right before it finished? Then you would miss points for helping out and just getting unlucky to die at the wrong time. They do need more rewards like the extra point for flag defense and kill assist- How about when the commander call for a flag to be taken the squad that does so gets a bonus?

Well...I'm completely at ease with this game..it seems to play well, the graphics are smooth, and the unlocks/rank system is just getting better. My only hope is that my system can run titan mode on all med settings...anyone know a graphics card for under 130 dollars that runs better than a radeon 9800 XTX 256 MB AGP card? I'm going to download rivatuner and overclock it as soon as I can get back to america from china...only 3 more weeks in ching chong land !

The way I'd do it is: let squad member number = x
let their teamwork points total = y
let each individual players teamwork points = z
squad point bonus = z + (1.y * x)
in the practical sense: player D has 24 teamwork points. His squad of 5 people has a total of 80 teamwork points.
bonus = 24 + (1.8 * 5) = 24 + 9 = 33.
Sounds fair to me.
