Hoping to throw some info out there, or get some input

Its been a long road for cheaters in the battlefield series, but unlike some other FPSs, BF2 has been a lot more forgiving to people who have been discovered cheating. Assuming BF2142 will also use Punkbuster, do you think they should make stricter rules for players caught using cheats, and/or violations when playing a PB server?

What about Hardware bans?
Good idea or bad? I really intersted to hear what the average gamer thinks the penalties will be, how bad it will get/ etc. BEFORE the actual game comes out- especially given your past experience as to what DICE has provided in the past and your expectations.

I dont know what to expect, You always read about mass account bannings from AA, MOHAA, COD, and for a lesser part, CS:S, but not BF2.

HW ban for cheaters. If ya cheat than you can cheat on another game.lol

I'm unaware of BF2 being soft on cheaters. BP HW bans are handed out for those caught cheating in BF2 as far as I know...

Really? I've never herd of anyhting like that happen. EA is really laxed about it. Until it affects sales they wont care. Plus the newist hacks come in through the memory and do not alter any game files at all so technically PB cant touch em.

Heres a link to the status of cheating in games.

EA doesn't do the cheat management. They pay Even Balance (the makers/maintainers of Punk Buster) to do it. EA occasionally cripples accounts of repeat offender stats padders, but that's about all they have to do with it.

It's Aaaanold, right?

Anyway, I do agree that EA is relaxed when it comes to handling cheaters, but in the erea on an HW ban, I'm undecided.

Go ahead and Hardware ban all the cheaters.

I think they should leave stat padders alone who aren't affecting other people though. I've never seen people getting so worked up over some guys sitting in the corner doing the kill/revive thing, or ammo spam. Get over it. It's not bothering you.

But people running around with aimbots and wallhacks, that just makes the game no fun for anyone else, and they need a hardware ban.

I think I like this one more... (look down)

Sorry, back on topic.
It's likely that cheaters will show up fairly quickly for BF2142. They've got a head start in making their hacks since they know it's going to be based on the BF2 engine. I doubt the netcode will change all that much. Then again, Dice might be able to pull some tricky stuff.

Who knows?
Prolly way to early to be worried about it.

I have an idea when bunkbuster detect a cheater it send a virus that burns the Hard drive then there pop up a msg on the monitor that says "don not cheat or bad things can happen" then the whole computer blows up!!!
Doesen't this sound like a good idea?

Did you guys not read the aticle I posted a link to?

Punkbuster CANT TOUCH SOME OF TEH CHEATERS! If they are useing a hack that comes in through the memory and does not alter any game files punkbuster cannot touch them becasue they are not altering game files.

The way I look at it is that there are a lot of hackers. But there are way more legit players. Its not so bad that every server you go onto there is a hacker.

I have actually never come across a hacker in BF2.

I did once. There are just so many players that it filters out. Like its only a drop in the bucket.

Yeah, and PunkBuster is not bound by any laws on how their program has to operate. So now they add a code in their program to scan active memory for certain file types, like the cheat. Problem solved, it just takes a little time to implement. Chill out.

I think EA should develop a system that locates the cheaters and sends a representative to their house who sneaks in and knifes them in the back while they are playing BF....

No cheaters in bf2? Come on ... seriously?
Then what about the 3 support guys IN Karkand Hotel?
EVERY match, the whole match ... those guys piss me off real bad. It just blows to clear the whole of hotel, take over the flag, and then just before it finishes, get killed by a guy hiding IN the walls. (usually are support dudes due to unlimited ammo.)
Every game has it's cheaters, and everyone can detect one. As long as admins are doing their jobs, there is nothing to worry about.
(Some servers have admins that cheat themselves, but whatever, just leave and play somewhere else then:P)

Also I think anyone saying the words noob, owned, pwnageum, leet (or 1337), or tankho should get kicked instantly.
I'm getting so sick of sniping one guy 7 times in a row, and then when he finally gets me, he starts corpsehumping and spamming the text/voice channels with messages about how much of a noob I am...
I know, he's just lealous of my one-three-three-seven sniping skillz, but it's gone as far as me actually being kicked BC those asshats complain about cheating/hacking/glitching as soon as you make 3 kills in a row.

Steams probably got the best system I've see so far for cheaters..It detects the current and old hacks automatically when joining a server, which results in a permamnent ban from servers with anti-cheat enabled. I got banned one time for using some mouse software that tweaked my mouse to move in certain directions if I just mashed a button. I had to but a whole new account again.

In BF2 its harder to spot cheaters because the game is so much bigger than COD or CSS. Everyone is scattered out and not concentrating on individual players as much.
