Well, while we're geared at the same theme, the mods are 2 different games. I guess it's hard for me to explain since you all haven't played DCon, yet.
USI has done a great job with their mod, and it is unfortunate more people don't play it yet. Hopefully that will change.

We have three mods which take place in gulf war, they might look similar, but each one brings something different to the table.
Project Reality= realism
DCon= Bringing back the original Desert Combat Game play
USI = a lot of great content with some game play tweaks compared to vBF2.

If the dcon team ever joined Black Sand Studio, I'm sure there would at least be some content sharing.
Oh, and I should post this link too. It's a video highlighting some cool USI stuff!

If your mod has very few players, the best way to success and DC fame is to merge and make supermods. Sharing content with BSS is great, but why not go one step further and make a huge and awesome mod?

No, PR is too different. It's not BF2 anymore. The mechanics of the game are completely changed. It's like a completely different game. These other mods are the same basic game with some tweeks and changes. My personal opinion is that PR took things a little too far and made it more of a combat simulation and less of a combat game.

I'm in no way a spokesman for them, but I do beta test and I have to say they've made a lot of progress. I believe they have everything in game they wanted to have in game for the next release. It's just tweaks at this point.
You guys are going to love it... MLRS, Field Artillery, some maps have been revamped.. it's killer! :) There's nothing like the sound of that arty or the rockets from the MLRS whizzing by overhead.

Currently we are finshing details on the maps and if you have followed the updates you will see our first map which was Basrah Streets.
Outside of that everything is supporting AI including all map sizes.
Progress has gone great and currently just testing is going on.
Btw with the release some details on the dcon side have varied on the list.

LOL, yeah.
USI is a great mod, and was very popular when it was released. Our mod was released several hours ago, so it is being watched and talked about.
Might as well install all of them since they are free. I have USI, POE2, OPK, Sandbox, and Battlepaint installed ( I love battlepaint).
Bring me EOD, BF2, and lego mod and I will be very pleased. (theres plenty of other great ones as well)

ROFL, looks like someone has still got that thrown teddy in the corner  & all because the Devs didn't bow down to his demands on how he wanted USI to be designed so that it was nigh on aimed purely at clan bases matches & ladders.
If I remember correctly, he was told if he wanted to have a mod aimed at a set area of the community then he should go off & make one himself.
Anyway.... looking great guys, mouthwatering stuff for v1.5

SLAYER....et al: I used to have USI installed on my system and really enjoyed it....with having to do re-installs of BF2 etc.....it was LONG GONE.
I decided to enjoy the original again as I await the NEW USI....so just did the long download etc....BUT ALL to NO Avail thus far....extracted it using RAR into BF2\mods and did not see an actual Shortcut.....there was/is a USI.exe but IT does not start the Mod.....it used to give me the option to Un-install or not. I tried expanding evertything is search of a Start Game .... but could never find a darn thing....I put that USI.exe into the USI Folder that was created by the Patch....now the USI.exe appears to be CAPUT! I think I just wasted alot of time and need to UN-INSTALL this "sucker" and continue to wait for the NEW USI [sure hope it includes a shortcut to start it up].

Well you can create a shortcut.
Just make sure the target lines say
"D:\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/USI
You can change that according to where you installed the mod.

Again - TKS: I was able to turn that USI Icon into a Shortcut finally, BUT, then after the BF2 Game screen came up for abit - It then gave me an about to CRASH notification - something to do with "shaders".
I give up.....waste of time and effort for me! A Shame - I once played this mod and it was GREAT!

After 1.5 you wont have to worry about that.
Basically USI v1 was a product of a bunch of cats working hard on something that had some giant obstacles and sabotages along the way......everything from hosting issues to rogue members purposly fouling things up.
We got it to the public because we wanted to establish our spot on the grid in terms of quality.
We have all grown and learned ..............I can honestly say after modelling and texturing countless numbers of ingame assets mostly by myself with the help of a handful die hard dedicated USI devs tweaking and implementing new ideas .
People will finally get what they paid for when they bought BF2 and spent a whole lot of $$$$ on new hardware.
Were moving to a new release strategy and have been gearing up and collecting our beans for the rest of the run.
You have all seen the big release of V1.0 wich was larger than vBF2
USI v1.5 is twice the size.
We are planning up to V3.0 wich will be the grand finale for this MOD
in all there will probably be and i cant say for sure cuz things always change but we have plans for around 30 + maps
possibly 50 or so additional vehicles,at least 1 or 2 more game modes..... possible ranking(on the fence) but ready to go.
expect releases about every 30-45 days each one adding something very new and cool to the game.
ROFL, looks like someone has still got that thrown teddy in the corner  & all because the Devs didn't bow down to his demands on how he wanted USI to be designed so that it was nigh on aimed purely at clan bases matches & ladders.

Sounds like you're just a little computer challenged.. :)
All BF2 mods go into your c:\program files\ea games\bf2\mods folder. Just look for a c:\program files\ea games\bf2\mods\usi folder. If you want to install the mod, just delete that "usi" folder.
However, if you have put the "usi" folder in the right place, then all you need to do is start BF2, click on the "Community" tab and you'll have a list of all the mods you've installed.... your other option is to make a shortcut as previously described and that will automatically run USI. If it doesn't run with that shortcut, you don't have it installed.
