it is infact a vBF2 bug. if you delete your shaders and then let BF2 redo them on load it should be fine.

it happens on BF2 for some ppl, but not often. It mainly happens when switching mods.
delete all the folders inside:
\My Documents\Battlefield 2\cache\
\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\xpack\cache (you may not have this one)
+ an other folders inside any other cache folders you may have in your my docs\BF2\ folder.

This happens to me all the time in PR. Usually only on the first server I join. I just thought it was some random bug, I'll try deleting the shaders and see what happens. Thanks Rhino.

Yea, it's a BF2 bug in general. Nothing can be done to get rid of it permanently. I had it a few times, never done anything to fix it (doesn't bother me) and it went away.
