So now that i have seen this new game i was wondering what new things there gonna add for the commander, or maybe even take away... im hoping they take out the arty, and maybe have a EMP blast, to disbale all vehicles in the area, that what be a major addition to the battlefield, so then all the troops can easily take them out, maybe have a vehicle drop, for transport, but i dunno what else they can really do for it. what do you guys think they will add/take away from the commander role??:confused:

They already said they are keeping art in.
BUT! I dont know if they are going to keep it in the titan mode. I think in conquest commander will be the same as always but in Titan the commander will play a totally diffrent role. Maybe not even having art or anything.
Like there sole responsibility is to take care of the titan and its weapon systems.

Same here. If titan mode lives up to everyones expectation I dont think I'll ever play conquest again.
Maybe for a little bit just becasue there are all new maps but I dont know for sure. It just depends on how this titan mode comes out.
I'm sure more will be revealed in the coming days cause of E3!!!!

I actually think the 'vehicle drop' was a very good idea. Imagine you're on team "A", and you're pwning team "B" hard, but then a mech falls out of the sky and team "B" pwns you.

Lol. Again I think it will just be transport.
So say You team has a crappy piolet and your ina transport heli adn you crash out in the middle of bumk ****ed egypt you cna get a biggy to ge tout of there.

Who me? I have not noticed anything diffrent. Of course it could just be my ignorence lol.
They should have a mech drop but only in Titian mode., and only within a certian radius of the titain.
Pilotiong a titain over the othe titian then dropping a couple of mechs.

they should take out the stupid artillery fire and replace it with the EMP blast Future/Idea man oh man how i hate to be artyed when im a sniper all alone on a mountain 400 feet away from the action
I dont know if its only me but sometimes i have to play the game a diffrent way called avoiding the commanders arty have you ever experienced an commander who really goes after you and only you man.. i can laugh about it now but thats so annoying

LOL sounds like I'm the commander. When I am commader if my teams doing ok without the arty I just start spotting out snipers and blowing them up lol.

I think they said in the 20 min video or some other video that the titan carries battlewalkers (mechs) and other vehicles. I dont know if I heard right but im sure I did, and I dont know any way to get the mech off the titan.

Yeah, wouldnt that be cool if they could simulate the commander sitting on his *** in a room and interacting with a screen? I mean, where else could we get an experience like that?

That would be some awsome. Fear has something like that as far as a room with cameras go.
No matter what map your on they have a secuirty room that any player can go to and flip through diffrent camera feeds and see whats going on in the map, its so cool. They should have something like that for BF2142.

Anyway, Im thinking "Aliens", when the marines enter the outpost, and the Lt and Ripley are in the APC and watching the action from cameras on the marines hats.
Maybe if Squad Leaders had that? (as a commander upgrade even?)
But EMP can disable it temporarily (until an engineer with his magic spanner can sort it?)
Aswell as there being a bunch of cameras on the underside of the titan, and some in the titan too, for defensive security.
Commander should also have:
EMP blast (in place of arty)
Supply drop (but not an all-in-one magic box... Either a health medic chest, an ammo crate (where players could also change class, like when you steal a kit from a dead player) or a repair drone type thing)
Whole map UAV surely radar tech. has improved in the last 140 years or so.
Titan Control Assuming the titan is mega powerful, which the 20 min vid suggests it it, this ability will be really nice.
Advanced comms. Limited VOIP and lack of command power is the limiter in @BF2. The commander needs to be able to do more than "chat" and issue suggestion orders. Maybe a direct reward for successfully completeing orders? (Like a good commander will use UAV/Supplies nowadays)
Ie, I "order" Alpha Squad to attack the enemy outpost. Alpha Squad cap the base. Alpha squad get a bonus point (for each man in a vicinity of the base at time of capping) to their teamwork score, not only for taking it for the team, but also following orders.
Would make people MORE likely to play in squads AND follow orders (admittedly as a squaddie you often realise an order is crap, but that aint the point. ****ty commanders get voted out)

Very thought out and I like the ideas, espcailly the supply crate one. I would hope they would make a way for you to change kit, but I doubt it will come out :(
These ideas all sound great but my main concern with the commander is about the mutiny option... i mean in all the time i've been playing which is 7-8 months now i've only ever seen a commander relieved of his post once, mainly because it requires so many people to accept it and generally people who realise there is a bad commander ignore his orders and proceed to try their best to win regardless...
I think it'd be a good idea for there to be a small box to type a reason in that might actually get others to think about a mutiny and not just ignore it or press yes/no to just get rid of the text... i dunno but one of the biggest problems i potentially forsee for this game isn't on the development side but in fact noob commanders and no good way of removing them.

I think in all the time Ive played Bf2 Ive seen 1 (yes just 1) vote go through.
I play with voting disabled now cause the writing in the corner is just annoying when it stays there for the entire round.

Arty, whilst a realistic (sorta) demo of warfare, its too much of an annoyance, ESPECIALLY as a ****e commander will not use it well.
An EMP blast... well, ok my big fat Mech just got disabled for 60 seconds... So what? Ill jump out and shoot the **** out of the ******* Spec Ops who thought he was gonna c7 me.
Oh would you really? i mean you're good but he knows exactly where you are... and you may not know exactly where he is... say he wins which there is a fair chance of it happening, he now has your Mech... if Mech's are so powerful and one team has 3 and the other 1, well tell me who you thinks going to win :P

But rember, most of this community is not used to working as a full fledged squad, so theres going to be a learning curve.

Artilley is ****e. EMP blast at least gives you a chance.
Its a game, we dont need the great leveller ;)
As far as i'm aware they haven't confirmed arty being EMP orientated but maybe i missed it >.<
I don't know which i'd prefer myself.

I think both would be ok, but keep arty at the same reload time as Bf2 and make EMP thingy take twice as long to reload, but make EMP hit the target very quick.

I don't really like the idea of having arty and EMP. I think it should just be EMP. Plus, where is the artillery going to be coming from? Artillery is a ground based weapon, not something that can be in the Titan. If the Titan shoots some sort of a ballistic down at the battlefield, it will then be a cannon. And cannons belong on tanks and mechs, not a mobile command center.
Well i'm assuming the commander in Titan mode will also have access to scan and UAV... which i'll assume will be on the ground to be able to be destroyed. So why not assume the Artillery couldn't be placed on the ground at the start of the engagement.

We're just discussing the logic of having arty in this game. I think if we have this much advanced weaponry, that we wouldn't still have such an old piece of equipment like artillery.
Artillery is already an ancient weapon, ever since the days of the catapault has its principle design been used in warfare. Its tried and tested and therefore is useful no matter how far you head into the future... well at least its basic design is... i never specified that the ordinance it fired had to be the same. It is more useful then missiles as the more advanced ones have guidance systems that lets say in the future could be disrupted. Well you can't disrupt artillery shells, once you fire they're going to hit, so i see them being increadibly useful even in 2142 no matter how primitive they may seem.

Artillery that fires shells is not really an ancient weapon. The catapult is. And they are prototyping artillery shells right now with guidance systems built in. Now that would be a nice addition to this game.
O rly? that sounds interesting. How exactly would that work anyways... i mean to be guided doesn't it need some sort of propulsion? and wouldn't it then becoem a missile >.<

I guess your right, but it wont handel as good as something that would have propultion all the time.
Well like they said, extend range by 30%... so they're not talking cruise missile range, more like a few extra miles.

I agree, however if they do this they should make the titan move faster to give it more mobility on where it can strike becasue arty can stike anywhere.

Here's the tradeoff... do you take the Titan over a silo and within striking distance of targets, then you pay the price of short missile travel time... the further away you are from the silos, the longer they have to travel and the more likely you can secure a base and cause the missile to miss its target.

Same, but I still think that if they do emliate arty in titan mode they should amke titan more moble that way you can get away from enemys coming towards you when your sheilds are down.

You can, the commander can move the titan anywhere on the map. The only downfall is its pretty slow
