Yet perhaps the biggest appeal in Battlefield 2142 will be the customization options of your character. Even though the game features only four class types, you can modify your character's weapons and load outs in countless ways. Pack up on lots of weapons and gear and you'll slow down. Go with a lighter load, and you won't have as much firepower, but you'll move faster. You can create a load that's just right for you. And perhaps the coolest thing in terms of persistence is that we learned that if you get a knife kill on someone, you will always be able to commemorate that kill because you will have your victim's "dog tags." You'll have dog tags for every knife kill, with the victim's name on it, so you can really rub it in if you get multiple knife kills on your friend.
I like how you have to choose speed or firepower.
Thats going to be so cool Rest here:

Another thing that BF purists may worry about is the lack of a medic class. EA doesn't want you to fret, however. The ever-helpful health kits are still there. You just have to equip them. Yes, equip them.
A goal for EA in this iteration of BF is to take character customization to a new level. Players will be able to switch out weapons and equipment, eventually making use of 40 unlockable items.
Thats going to be wild. This will make BF2142 like no other game.

Me Neither!!!! So far battlefield has been bland. In BF2 you got to unlock weapons, but they did not affect you negativly. In this game the more unlocks you use, the slower you run so it makes you think about what you want.
Its going to be bad ***. Me personally depending on how it turns out and what every one else does I think imma go with a lite kit so I can sprint around.
BUT!!! In Titan mode that wont matter once you inside the thing. So like when your ready to assult the inside of the titan you could switch to a heavy kit to un load on them. OMG this is going to be sweet.

Thats sooo true, lol, still reminds me of tribes with having to switch kits at certain points to complete a certain goal. With in my opinion tribes being the biggest teamwork orientated game around still this can only be a good thing. Plus how sweet is finally being able to fully customise your kit going to be?

Man, the kit customization thing looks so friggin' sweet. If you can make more than one customized kit, I'm going to make one for light, spec ops type missions, and one for heavy assault/stomp-their-butt missions :).

What are you on about? They are customizable. The reason there doing this whole squad thing is so you get special points for weapon upgrades like silencers.

Oh, then I must have read it wrong. I thought they were talking about your weapon layout being customizable (which it is).

They were, but in the preview article released last sunday it said you could mod weapons and thats what the special squad points were for. We had a thread on it.

how about this for even more customization: let us choose our race or at least choose what we look like. No offense to black people, but I'd rather be a white anti-tank or support guy.

You all should read the IGN article thats poosted on main page of bf2142!!! Its so awsome, they say that you get more than 40 unlocks and you can change you kit configuration on the fly.
I still dont know what the other article meant about enginers I think they got confused, cause IGN said you still need spec ops to destroy core, I guess maybe engineers are more effective for checkpoints I dont know lol. I still think the other guys were confused.

The only thing missing from the equation is deployable inventory stations so you could change your kit without having to die, at least your weapon load-out. A little game called Tribes had this kind of player customization a long time before Battlefield did, they should follow through with the creative “borrowing of ideas” from other games and add this feature in.
I guess this means you won’t be picking up packs from dead guys anymore?

That would be a great idea. AS far as the kits go I would say you could cause now in BF2 you can pick up kits even if you dont have the unlocks.
Also, I still dont know what they meant about enginerss casue I saw the recon guy blowing up the secuitry post. more than 2/3 of my total time plasyed now is with spec ops I cant wiat till recon.

Now if you could save your weapon loadout you can have hotkeys activating each diffrent loadout like a Pilot kit or a recon loadout

My fear is hackers will have both... or even worse, hack to have cloak and be able to fire :( But you will know they are hacking when they have 15 droids following them lol.

Well thats why I try to play on clan servers only that are closely moderated. The one I play on now for BF2 always has admins on and they probally b an 1 person a week for hacks. Plus they kick all the smacktards and what not.
EA public servers are rampid with noobs and hackers therefor I don't play there.
