Played for roughly 3 or 4 hours this afternoon.
9 times out of 10, I met my demise from either a mortar, or a sniper.
IMO, both of these things need nerfing.
I'm inclined to beleive you guys don't want to limit the kits, so I think decreasing the damage done by sniper rifles may be in order. It's hard to move anywhere when you have 10 lone wolves looking through their scopes at you.
Same things goes for mortars. I suggest decreasing the blast radius, or, lengthening the loading time.
Otherwise, fantastic mod :-).

Decreasing the sniper-dmg aint a good idea imo, we dont want em to be like the bf2-snipers, do we?
Limit the snipers is the best way. Make them pickup-kits or something, 2-3 per team. Having to many snipers screws up the gameplay, and even if they do less dmg, half of the team will still lie in the bushes statwhoring.
The sniper is such an unique weapon, it should be in the game, but if to many use it at the same time.... good bye gameplay.
About the mortar issue, i think the mortars reloadingtime should be longer. Now you can just throw away a shell, see where it lands, see where the enemy are, adjust your aim and seconds later throw away another killing shell. Increasing the reloadtime also decreases the mortar-spam where ppl just... spam out shells at a crowded area.

I like the Mortors as they are, really havent seen them unbalance any maps or gameplay. They also really add to the emersion with the sounds of shells coming in. I want an "INCOMING" scream button for them.. lol
I got killed a few times by them but it wasnt game ruining or anything.
Now Sniper Rifles are another story... First off, i like the Sniper Rifles as they are!, BUT They need to be limited with limited pick-up kits or something. 50%+ snipers per team is overkill, and thats why snipers are killing the gameplay, and making most other classes useless.
But plz dont actually nerf the Sniper Rifles themselves, they are great as is. Just limit them. :D

Sniper kit is definitely the main problem with this mod. Everyone wants to be a sniper because it's always one shot - one kill. Nerfing the gun or limiting snipers are both viable options, but please hurry. Gameplay is hurting bad.

FREAKIN SWEET! I haven't noticed so much the mortars, but the sniper thing really gets me. I think 75% of the time I get killed by snipers, and it leaves flags unasaulted.
Other than the sniper thing, I love this Mod! Great job to all who had anything to do with creating it!

DO NOT unrealistically LIMIT sniper rifles please. If your current changes to sniper rifles are congruent to realism and not pacifying whiners, then by all means forget I even said anything.
* Tweaked all sniper rifles to have more recoil, bullet deviation and bullet drop. Reduced amount of ammo carried.
Here's an idea, just tweak all sniper rifles to reflect whatever model they represent in real life. As long as you have your sniper scope properly mounted and are using the correct techniques, there will not be any significant bullet deviation, unless over very long ranges. This is what is called random bullet deviation. I am hoping the bullet deviation you have implemented is not disgustingly out of whack. Since you did not call it "random bullet deviation" it makes me fear for the worse. Also if you are going to be implementing bullet drop, please do not have it defy the laws of physics. Bullet drop is NOT going to be the same for every gun, especially sniper rifles when used at long range. It depends on the velocity of the projectile as well as it's mass. I realize you guys aren't trying to be Project Reality, but if you were to make an accurate representation of the sniper rifles, people's complaints would be a lot less valid.
I also don't like some of the nerfing you have done on the kits. The sniper kit not having frag grenades will hurt it's ability to fill the role of a designated marksmen. The medic getting colored smoke is laughable, I thought it was a late April Fools joke. The only use I can think of this, is if your squad leader plays medic all the time. They should at the very least have smoke grenades so they have something to give them cover when treating friendlies. They are also very helpful for moving safely, giving cover, to your downed friendly.
Maybe we can get some clarifications to exactly how the sniper rifles were "tweaked". The specifics would be even better.
A good sniper will be able to take out a lot of people. The reason why the current sniper wars is going on is because people are not working together and developing strategies to combat enemy snipers. Smoke grenades and bombardment are very effective tools for taking care of enemy snipers. It is also difficult for an enemy sniper to kill you if you are in an armored vehicle. Maybe if people didn't vehicle (you know what), and moved as a team, snipers wouldn't be nearly as effective.
You don't balance the game for people that use poor strategies. It just makes their asinine way of playing the game more valid.

If your gonna tweak sniper rifles to be completely realistic then you better do the exact same to every other weapon out there....having one weapon thats completely and utterly realistic while all the others aren't is definitely not balance....

So, if it was found out that one weapon in EOD was more realistic than the others, they should all meet that same level realism? I also never advocated completely realistic as your post suggests I did. I even said "I realize you aren't trying to be Project Reality". Heck, even Project Reality isn't completely realistic. I am just saying that if your are going to implement certain things in a game you should have a better reason than because someone on a forum complained. Realism is one of those "better reasons". I think if you are going to make changes to a gun in a game they should be founded rationally. Realism is a good basis for this. Game balance is also a good reason, which we have yet to see because I have not yet played with the 1.1 update. I am just really hoping the devs didn't change something due to whining. I have seen games ruined because of this. Planetside is the perfect example of this, for those of you that are familiar. Battlefield has also gone through some rather obtuse changes all in the name of balance, due to people whining about a certain gameplay advantage someone allegedly has. I also own Battlefield 2142, I don't even want to talk about how "balance" has ruined aspects of that game.
Zuiquan1 you took what I said to the extreme. Then again maybe I was clear enough either. Hopefully my clarifications make a bit more sense than my previous post.

I see your point, and I do agree....but the changes aren't being made from pure whining...just look at how things are now....and schmo can pick up the sniper and rule with it, therefor 3/4 of the entire team is playing sniper...even the devs have stated this was not how they wanted it....there a difference between nerfing something, and making it harder to use....which I believe the devs are doing...it will still be a beast in the right hands, but not just everybody can pick it up and master it....
As for the grenades, well, IMHO they ruin a game....yes, I know if I played "smart" and stayed out of a flag radius, and other safety followed other safety tips I could avoid them....but when your average soldier is using there grenades as a primary weapon...thats a problem...there only so many places you can run to, especially when your trying to cap a flag...
The minute a flag goes grey 40 grenades are tossed from no where...all at your feet...it gets repetitive....

There are so many things in this comment that just do not make any sense. The people who are wining have a reason to. I am guessing you are a sniper on the game which is why you wrote all this. A few things that didn't make sense to me is #1 when you say not to take away nades from snipers.... why would a sniper ever need nades? If he lets the enemy within range to need to use a nade he's in trouble. Im just going by realism since that's what you seem to be going for. Your last point made me laugh. Using smoke grenades and mortars to take out an enemy sniper. Number 1 the point of this game is not to kill snipers it is not to put together tons of tactics to kill one person. Sure if this was a real war that would be an excelent idea. One problem though... sure throw a smoke nade or hit him with a mortar... guess what? that sniper is going to spawn back in 10-20 seconds.. a shorter amount of time then it took to get everybody together to create the whole plan on taking him out. Then lets add in the fact that I would be willing to guess that over 50% of people use sniper rifles. Certain maps I couldn't even spawn due to the constant sniper fire. So again since you want to be realistic.. when was the last time you saw and army that consisted of over 50% being snipers? The answer is you havn't. Sure while you are trying to get to the mortar to kill him or get close enough to throw a smoke nade.. guess what? he has about 10 other sniper buddys all in the same area waiting for you to go to the mortar or to come around the corner to throw a smoke nade. The funny thing to me is why people use the sniper rifle as it is now. It's not even fun, it is way way way too easy. I actually wouldn't mind the sniper rifles being some what like vanilla bf2. The reason for that is on bf2 when you get hit by a sniper it puts you in the same range of bleeding to death on eod making it important to find a medic after you're hit. I don't know how bf2 was made or if you could even do it. I just wish if you got hit in the leg it would hurt you not kill you. Head shot and chest shot should be instant kills. So please before you say things like that please think about the amount of snipers on one map and how easy it is to get kills with them. Something is seriously wrong.. look at how the community has dropped since the release.. you want to know why? the sniper rifles. I for one am excited for the patch and I think it will fix tons of issues. Good job eod team I love the game and thank you for sorting out the problems so we don't have these kids spamming with the sniper rifles anymore
