so this loading time is pretty killer at least on my rig and some others I've talked to. I just checked with the windows defrag utility and it says my EoD objects_client.zip file has 822 fragments. This may be the solution to reducing those load times.

I've been experiencing this too. I've got 2gigs of RAM and it never takes me that long to load maps in other mods.

got the same problem here. Got E6600 and 2 gigs of RAM, but still i have to sit and wait for the verify-thing for what feels like days :P
The loading itself doesnt take long time, but the verifying...
aint it possible to extract objects_client.zip to decrease loadingtimes?

Hey guys how's the difference in standard BF2 with 2gigs compared to 1. I'm planning on upgrading this summer.

Night and day.
You know I recently upgraded my pc and grabbed an Intel this route, one of the new ones. DDR2800 OCZ, 680i board, and an 8800. I started out with 1GB of RAM. I loaded pretty fast but when I got to verifying it slowed down. I use to load and verify faster on my old pc with 2GB of DDR and it took less then 25 Seconds. I got 2GB of DDR2 instantly I get in seconds. It takes me around 20 seconds to load, and verifying is like 5-10.

Battlefield 2 modification client verification will take upto or beyond twice the amount of time required to verify Battlefield 2 vanilla. Why?...
When using client verification using non-opitmized MD5 verification (2142 has an optimized version, BF2 doesn't), your PC must byte check all of the following files, when loading a mod with client verification, it has do this for BF2 and then the mod files, thus it may have to MD5 about 1+ gigs of data. With the current processor average speed, and the speed of most hard drives, this will take a bit of time. The larger the mod, the longer it will take.
Files for verifcation BF2 (vanilla):
Objects_client.zip
Common_client.zip
Menu_client.zip
Fonts_client.zip
Shaders_client.zip
Booster_client.zip Objects

Files for verifcation EoD:

mach 10..that sounds very knowledgeable and all that,,,but dcon verifies (at least on my modest pc)the same time as vanilla bf2...but eod takes a bit longer..so it seems all mods dont take twice as long..only some

I don't know what the problem is with mine. My HD's are fine, they are not fragmented at all, I have 1.5gb ram, have decent graphics card, and EoD takes like 7-10 min for verifying client data.

I defragmented my hard drive after a couple days after the install and the verifying client **** got little bit faster.

I guess so.. City maps will take some time. We do not really have the ability to use all the BF2 stuff within EoD. Unlike other mods, they can use alot of the content within BF2 just fine.
We do not have that choice. Most of the stuff is too modern or does not fit within the Vietnam atmosphere. Therefore, we have to create all of it from scratch. Dcon already had some done, so yes, they can make maps easily. We don't.
We do have some city style maps in the works. Just give us a bit of time to get them implemented.

My suggestion would be a half-city/half jungle city...with a city area either surrounded or broken up by jungle patches.

Can't get v1.1 to work?
Did you delete v1.0 from your BF2 Mods folder? Then Install v1.1?
Did you change the mod path in the desktop shortcut icon?
Read the READ ME that is in the folder when you unrar the mod build. When you unrar the download of the client, you get three things in the folder it makes. A new desktop icon, the mod build and a READ ME. Check out the readme for help.
